Most small school players have hype by now, maybe he will be there after the 3rd? |

Two good sacks in that game. One he just flat destroys Fluker off the edge and another he bull rushes the LT and then beats Warmack who is coming over for a double team. _________________ Patrick Peterson - 92 targets, 40 catches allowed, 602 yards, 6 TD's, 7 INT's

What do you think about Jamie Collins and Chase Thomas? Those are guys I'm looking at in the 3rd round because I hope those first two picks bring in high quality offensive players.
I haven't seen much of Collins but he seems to have the necessary athleticism and he put up big time numbers with no supporting cast whatsoever.
Chase Thomas is a guy who isn't a great athlete but he has some of the best hand usage and pass rush moves I've seen and he's great against the run. I liken him to Ryan Kerrigan. He plays with a great motor and while he may not put up double digit sack numbers, he can contain the run and that was our biggest defensive issue last year not rushing the passer. |

I like Thomas, but see him in NYE or BAL at the end of the second.

Thomas looks awkward in space. He is not overly explosive off the edge, he is a smart player who uses hustle and technique to get to the QB, Chase Thomas is Sam Acho.
I like Jaime Collins, explosive and flexible off the edge, he can get to the passer. Very on or off player, very inconsistent in his effort. _________________ Patrick Peterson - 92 targets, 40 catches allowed, 602 yards, 6 TD's, 7 INT's

I don't know, he looked bad in coverage at the Senior Bowl and he might not time well but you're right because those teams do prioritize defending the run with guys like Paul Kruger, Courtney Upshaw, Donta Hightower, and Rob Ninkovich. |

If we could get Thomas, would be a nice bookend to Acho and then OBS can rush passer soley.
Just an idea |

I was about to say Acho but I've been disappointed with his run support.
Maybe Collins would be more motivated to play on a team that doesn't go winless in a season. |

Maybe, but I am not 100% sure whether it is an effort question or a skills question. He just runs hot and cold over the course of a game. _________________ Patrick Peterson - 92 targets, 40 catches allowed, 602 yards, 6 TD's, 7 INT's

I dont think any of our OLB have a starting spot 100% theirs yet do they?
If Thomas came in, he would at least have a chance to start over Acho and OBS. |

This isn't Cardinals talk, but I don't know where to put it.
Why does EVERYONE think Chip Kelly will run what he did in college football? Didn't he say he would adapt to personnel? _________________

Old habits die hard?
Might as well have players learn new system than him most probably.
Also probably an ego thing, that offense/system got him the job why change it now? |

Of course Chip is going to run a lot of things very similar to what we saw him run in college, but it is not going to be identical. He is still going to be very run heavy, zone blocking based, use a lot of read option but he is also going to adapt. He is a smart man and a smart head coach.
It is going to be an interesting offense to watch and it is going to shatter at lot of the pre-conceived notions about how an NFL offense needs to run, how to play ball control football and when to go for it on 4th down. _________________ Patrick Peterson - 92 targets, 40 catches allowed, 602 yards, 6 TD's, 7 INT's

But does he really provide us any kind of marginal upgrade at that spot. I don't think he does, so we would be better served putting our resources into improving another spot at that time.
If we can really, tangibly improve the Pass Rush OLB spot then we need to take that shot. Thomas does not do that that, so why not run with what you have a strengthen another area of the team that could use the upgrade. _________________ Patrick Peterson - 92 targets, 40 catches allowed, 602 yards, 6 TD's, 7 INT's
