The defense held the Packers to 20 points. Not sure about this season, but last season the average amount of points scored by a team was 22 points.
When a defense holds a good offense to below league average, and the offense is unable to score above league average, I blame the offense.
Let's look at some losses this season:
Titans 44-41- Two ST scores and a INT return TD is what lost this. The lions D held the Titans offense to 20 points in regulation
Vikings 20-13- Taking away special teams scores, the Vikings were held to six
@ Bears 13-7 We held the Bears offense to 13 points, yet were unable to score a TD until garbage time
Green Bay 24-20 The defense held Green Bay's offense to 17. And this is counting the late FG after Green Bay took over after loss of downs already in FG range
@ Green Bay 27-20- Another loss in which a turnover provided the winning margin for Breen Bay
That's five of our eight losses in which the defense held an offense to below twenty. three of those losses the defense held the offense to less than two TDs.
I don't understand how people are blaming the defense for this season, especially considering the awful spots the offense has put them in a large part of the time. |

Our line is fine. They don't want to run, and they're very good in pass protection. _________________

Not with the offensive line as is. |
Notice, though: this mock doesn't include FA signings, just re-signings. It's likely that, if the draft happened that way, Mayhew signed key free agents to address any concerns we had entering the draft.

Jake Long is not worth the money some team will pay him. |

No way the OLine is fine. Backus and Dom are close to retirement, Gosder is a FA, and Peterman is just awful. _________________ Its only a matter of time until Hockey Town USA is rocking again!

Well put. I love how you post up tangible fact that shows our Def hasn't been near as bad as most of the blinded pissed off fans would like to believe. Our Off has not played a solid or complete game most season. Seems most games we don't play until half way through the 3rd quarter and the Def is the only reason we're in the game at that point to attempt a comeback.
Like it or not there's as good of WR talent coming out in the 1st 3 rounds this year as there's been in the last 3-4. "top tier" talent guys don't always break out lord knows we know all about that, but there's gonna be some VERY talented guys avail this year.
Food for thought like it or not. |
