Too many of you are pointing at the offense as a whole and saying "it's good, don't need anything better" when I don't think that's NBT's point. There's no disagreeing the offense is good, but you also can't say it would get no better with a top WR addition. Lloyd hasn't been that. I get the feeling Brady just doesn't like him, which sucks given his usually reliable hands.
Pretty much every team has a burner, we don't really have that. Gronk, Welker, and Hernandez are each great in their own way, but it's extremely difficult for a TE to match what a WR is to an offense. I'll hear an argument for Gronk doing that, but even then, that's not the real point either. This is one of NBT's threads so it's all about wide receivers. |
You can only line up a certain number of players on any given play. Any time you take Welker, Hernandez or Gronkowski off the field is a win for the opponent. So really, this thread should be debating Lloyd vs. anyone else and frankly I would take Brandon Lloyd over most of the non-elite (and obvious) guys on NBT's list.
As for the "Brady doesn't like Lloyd" thing, we've seen what happens when Brady doesn't like/trust his receiver - he doesn't bother to look in their direction. Brady goes to Lloyd frequently enough to think that "liking" him isn't the issue. |

Our WR depth is pathetic really. NBT is right here.
We've got NO ONE "in the system", that has a legit chance of developing into a top 3 WR. I'm really hoping there is some scouting being done to add some options this off-season.

Curious as to why they need a guy to "develop into a top 3 WR"
They have Welker, Lloyd and Edelman is/was fine for a #3.
Not saying a young WR with upside would be a bad thing, but I also don't see why it's really a problem. As long as Welker and Lloyd are on the team (and whether or not Welker is back next year is certainly a point for debate), the Pats do not/should not invest big resources in a #3 WR. |

It is sad that other teams have 3 or 4 of what we have 0 of. They're not TBs, they're not difficult to acquire but somehow they are elusive to us. _________________

Yes, I wish the Pats had an athletic freak like Mo "4.66 40" Massaquoi to put on the field over Brandon Lloyd. I'd also love to take Welker or Lloyd off the field for a guy with the talent of Aldrick Robinson, Devin Hester, Damian Williams etc. |

You can't have a good offense without athletic freak WR's. Even if they can't run routes, catch, read defenses etc. |

All of those are talented than Lloyd... _________________

Probably the dumbest thing I've read on this site and a really good example as to why - when it comes to a WR - you're more interested in trolling than actually having a substantive football-based conversation.
No one who knows football or understands it, could seriously think Aldrick Robinson, Devin Hester (as a WR) or Damian Williams are more talented than Lloyd. |

That was in his 2nd year in the afc title game. Way past being a bust. _________________
