Nothing needs to be said about the absolutely disgusting job Greg Knapp has done this year as OC. Can anyone say they have seen more regression from one year to the next without much turnover in terms of personnel? The only thing that can be said about the man is at least hes consistent. Why Allen deemed him the man to run his offense I will never know but hopefully McK or Davis will step up and fire this bum.
I wanted a thread for possible OC candidates and couldn't seem to find one already posted. Thought it would allow some of us Knapp-haters to blow steam off.
My two guys that I hope we pursue are Pat Hill, currently ATL offensive line coach, and Marty Mornhinweg, assuming Reid is fired and Philly cleans house.
Hill is a dark horse but I think he is the kind of coach Allen needs to run his offense. His resume at Fresno St. is speaks for itself and what he was able to against the big schools. Not sure what kind of system he prefers to run but he seems to be multiple in blocking scheme. Atl improved oline play is another reason why I think we should target Hill.
Mornhinweg is a guy who seems to match up with what Allen wants to do offensively and has a good history as OC's in the league. He makes more sense in that he is already an established play caller and would allow Allen to focus more on helping Tarver and the defense.
Who else should we be interested in? |

Mornhinweg is one of the guys I wanted Oakland to look at as HC last year.
I like him. He'd be a major upgrade. However, I can see him going with Reid if he's hired someplace else. _________________

We did interview him for the HC job didn't we?
I wouldn't like the idea of him as HC, but I would be alright bringing him in as HC.
Truthfully there are a few guys I would like, but I would be pretty happy with just about anybody replacing Knapp. _________________

I'm a big Mornhinweg fan. I thought about this too, Reid won't last this offseason in Philly and Mornhinweg will be free. I'd be pretty happy if we could land him.
Although, there are some serious questions I have about him. Like, after McCoy's amazing year last year, why were they so quick to abandon him in the gameplan. Every now and then I see things that don't seem to make sense. _________________ Bah-Weep-Granah-Weep-Nini-Bong

Jeff Tedford would be a good hire, he's shown he can develop talent, and he's a local guy. _________________

Same here. I think we have to go back to being a strong running team. I'm not sure we could with him. _________________

And he will cost more than they are paying the HC. _________________

No to Morninwheg, I'd bring back Hue Jackson as off. coord. before I'd ever bring in Morninwheg. |

I hope we get Norv Turner. He's a Cali guy. I would make him asst HC/OC and pay the man. Give him full control over the offense. |

I really like Norv as an OC. He's one of the best in the business. He knows how to get the most out of his players. _________________
