Two 2nd rounders, one 3rd rounder, and yes Mr. Irrelevant.
Still, it shows you the type of WR he covets. |
I don't like all the smaller guys we bring in and would love for a bigger target but Pittsburgh has built their offense around 3 tiny speedsters and seem to do fine. |
That's because Big Ben throws the ball with great touch, and is nowhere near as erratic as Stafford.
I just think with the way Stafford throws the ball, bigger targets would maximize his production. I just remember all of the failed opportunities BJ had opposite Calvin.

He has been practicing all year, more than any WR in fact so he should be in pretty good shape. He had a good catch, a couple drops, a couple missed routes I am assuming, that or Stafford is purely awful. Overall, given the conditions, he wasn't awful, but needs to how more.

Didn't think he did too bad. I mean ideally if everyone is healthy he won't be anything more than like a #4 for us so for him to struggle as a #2 shouldn't surprise anyone.

As with most guys, I need to see how he performs more than once to make a very good judgment, especially with cold, snowy, underthrowing weather. I look forward to evaluating him the rest of the year.

It would have helped if Stafford would have thrown the ball to him above his knees once in a while. Overall I was pretty impressed with what I saw considering the circumstances and some of the balls that were getting thrown at him.

He already had Calvin, and drafted Pettigrew. Isn't it possible that he was looking for speed instead to stretch the field? (The answer is yes, as that was exactly what they were looking for.) |
No, neither D. Will or Broyles are/were considered speed guys in college.
Try again. |
While Broyles wasn't considered a burner in college he was known for being very quick thus the ability to make players miss in the open field.

Yep. They wanted two elements at WR: speed to stretch the field, and shiftiness in the slot. Young was the former (with Burleson filling that role), and Williams/Broyles were the latter.
They had Calvin and Pettigrew. Height wasn't a necessity.

It sucks that Broyles got hurt. He has a tremendous work ethic, runs excellent routes and has great hands.
I was so excited to see him progressing and that injury short of the Lions record is the biggest disappointment of the year for me.
