I endorse this offseason, under the assumption no QB is coming. This team is a lot better than the current version. _________________ Wins are a team stat, not a QB stat |

I this there is a lot of nice moves and picks in this mock.
WR Dwayne Bowe & DT Terrance Knighton is slightly ambitious.
Your draft picks are fairly good.
I still have my reservations with Ogltree. I dont question his coverage abilities, slightly on run tho.
I think Carlson should be cut. Carlson will not be seeing much throws with a Kyle/Bowe/Harvin/Rogers/Wright WR crew. His salary wont be justified, and I suppose that his playing time would be slashed as you run 3 WRs + 1 TE sets more often then not.
Starting Positions Upgraded - WR (2), MLB, OLB, DT, LG
Lots of Dead Weight Starting & Backups Cut
Winfield -- If he stays another season, he would be starting. He has arguably been the #1 pure CB this season in the league. _________________

Love the mock, but I can't see Arthur Brown making it to round 3, especially midway. He's ranked #35 in the class overall by Kiper. _________________

Pretty good all around, though I would be hesitant to start 2 LBs. Well, technically, one of them would only be a part time player given the abundance of nickel, regardless, I would probably prefer to bring back Erin Henderson as a two down player and bring in a 3 down MLB.
John Carlson should be cut. Id hang onto Tyrone McKenzie, heck of a special teams player and I think he can actually play some defense, unlike guys like Heath Farwell, Eric Frampton and Larry Dean of the world.

Funny, I didn't even notice Carlson still had a job in this mock, I just assumed every mock now had him being cut.....but yes, I agree, he is vastly overpaid. _________________ Wins are a team stat, not a QB stat |

Nice draft and off-season moves.
I like the thought of the Vikes keeping Carlson another year. I totally understand the views of cutting him though, especially given his contract versus production. The thing I like is he has the same abilities as our starter, so should injury occur, he'll be able to step in and not short the gameplan.
I'm not sold on keeping Evans as a back up NT, and Knighton might be a tough one to get. With the depth of big NTs in the draft, might get a good one in Rds 3 or 4 to push Guion or replace him and Evans.
Also, like your choices for new LBs. The Vikes need discplined speed deamons out there. We've had supposed "bring the wood" guys at MLB for so long it's been accepted that the guy doesn't need to make plays in coverage or blitz. Urlacher, Lewis, Willis and guys like them make their mark at MLB in 16 games, and I was hopeful Brinkley would make his, but it hasn't happened. |
