Every since I have been an active member on Browns draft sites the Cleveland Browns fan base has ALWAYS been obsessed with drafting a star linebacker with its Top 10 pick. There was A.J. Hawk, Rey Maualuga, Aaron Curry and Rolando McClain. The fan base as a hole all loved these guys and all of them were one of the 2-3 favorites in the draft.
Now this year we have Manti Te'o and it seems the fan base as a whole wants nothing to do with a linebacker so high in the draft. Are we as a fan base just scared off by the past bust of those highly touted linebackers?
Manti Te'o is by far the best linebacker out of that bunch coming out. Some may argue A.J. Hawk but I spent the entire season arguing he was a 2nd round talent.
I personally don't want to spend a Top 10 pick on a linebacker I just find it odd that a fan base who has been so hellbent on drafting a stud linebacker in the Top 10 in recent years now finally has a great chance at the best in a long time and hardly anyone wants anything to do with him. _________________

I would love to have Te'o. I am a Notre Dame fan, and he is the heart and soul of that team. He is a guy that has the ability to change a defense in ways that you can't quantify. He is a Ray Lewis/Brian Urlacher type of presence in the middle. Then we could shift Jackson to WLB. We would need to land a pass rusher and CB with our other picks, but if we draft Te'o I would be perfectly content. _________________

There was a better ILB prospect in last years draft.
"A.J. Hawk, Rey Maualuga, Aaron Curry and Rolando McClain"
All busts. Its hard extremely hard to be a big time difference maker as an ILB. If you look at the past 5 drafts there are only a few who deserved to be first rounders. Its considered a 'safe' position but seems to yield a lot of busts. I doubt Teo pans out to be an all pro. _________________

I like Jones more than any of those linebackers when they were entering the NFL. I like Teo more than any of them besides maybe Curry. I didn't think Curry had tons of potential, but I thought he had the potential to be a pro bowler and was a safe pick (obviously I was wrong).
I don't want Jones or Teo because I think LB is a big need because I don't think it's a big need. I just think those two have the talent to help make Cleveland's defense go from being good to potentially being elite.
I can't decide who I want the most between Jones, Teo, Moore and even Jordan. I think Moore and Jordan have a ton of potential and DE is a much bigger need than LB. I'd probably choose Moore over Jones or Teo but I think I'd probably go with Jones or Teo over Jordan. If Jones didn't have medical concerns, he would definitely be my top choice.
If the Browns can get one of those four players, I'll be very happy. Like I said, I'll be happy with one of those LBs, but it's not like the Browns must draft one of them. Gocong was above average last year and JMJ has looked solid thus far and should only improve. _________________ Cleveland Browns Forum Hall of Fame Inductee

I am much higher on Te'o than I ever was on those other guys.
Hawk didnt have the physcial ability. Curry, Rey, and McClain had the ability but not enough between the ears and in the chest. Te'o has all... _________________

No one can convince me we need an ILB (or even an OLB) over a pass rushing defensive end. We have no one to rush the passer from the outside, we need one badly.
DE-CB-FS are all bigger needs in my eyes than LB. Heck, our LB's now behind our defensive line have managed to put up the 16th ranked rush defense (t-10th in YPC). Im far more concerned with our sack leader as a 34 year old Juqua Parker.
Now, if you convince me that Teo can be a sack-specialist at OLB ala Rosevelt Colvin in Chicago under Jauron, then you'll win me over. _________________

You forgot to add Dion Jordan to your list. He is after all a pretty good linebacker. _________________ The Dawgpounds new three headed monster!

I'm a fan of Te'o, but I'd rather take a shot on a DE than take what I believe to be a luxury pick.
1. Damontre Moore
2. Jarvis Jones
3. Manti Te'o
4. Dion Jordan --You're swaying me KT _________________

I want the best player. Period.
I don't care if its a LB, DE, CB, S, TE, what ever.
Having said that, I think Teo is the most complete player in this draft. I think he compares to T-Rich of last year, but on defense. He's a man among boys.
We don't need a QB.
I'm not sold on Moore.
All the other DE's are meh.
All the corners are mid first or later values.
Guard, no.
Tackle, no.
No Safety at the top of the draft.
DT, no. _________________ 2013 First Ballot Recipient of the Joe Blackburn Award |

I've never wanted an ILB high in the draft. Now if you said an OLB with insane speed, I'm your guy. But we tend to bypass those guys (and I can name a bunch that became stars). _________________ You show me a good loser, and I'll show you a loser

Pretty much dead on right here.
I'm not a fan of drafting a non pass rushing LB in the Top 10 but in this draft is there really anyone who truely desreves to be there? If we are picking in the back half of the Top 10 can anyone honestly justify passing on Manti Te'o? I'm not even a huge Manti fan and believe he is about a 12-20 type talent but I'm still finding it hard to say he won't be the best by the time pick 6 or 7 rolls around this year. _________________

If we're picking top 10 I'd like to see us trade down in this draft. I don't know how much of a market there will be for top 10 draft picks this year, but we don't have a 2nd and none of the prospects really stand out among the rest this year.
If we are stuck picking top 10 I feel like it's just going to be the BPA on defense (outside of DT). |

I am on the Te'o train... however I just want the Browns to retain Heckert, b/c my money is on him drafting a stud whoever it is. _________________
