Here is Woz's projection that he'll keep updating with each passing week.

Alright as I understand it.. Broncos could finish anywhere between the #1 seed and #3 seed.

Currently it's:

Houston (12-3)
Denver (12-3)
NE (11-4)

In a case of tied records... NE holds a tie break over both Houston and Denver. Houston holds the tie break over Denver.

Houston (@ Indy) and NE (vs Miami) play early, Denver plays us late so they will know the outcome if they want to. Here's how those early games impact things.

If Houston wins:

Denver win gives them the #2 seed
Denver loss and NE loss gives them the #2 seed
Denver loss and NE win gives Denver the #3 seed and no bye week!

If NE wins:

Denver must win to get a bye week
Denver win and Houston loss give Denver #1 seed and home field advantage
Denver win and Houston win gives Denver #2 seed

(yes I realize some info is redundant in both sections but wanted to spell it out clearly for both early games)

The one lone situation that would leave Denver's late game against us as irrelevant is if NE loses and Houston wins. Any other scenario and Denver has reason to win.

Some one double check me but pretty sure that's all correct.

So this relates to the Chiefs obviously because a hungry Manning trying to win should lock us up for the #1 draft pick.. but a mail it in week 17 by Denver would makes things much more dangerous for us (and by dangerous I mean we steal a useless win in week 17 for nothing).

In addition to the above Jacksonville plays Tennessee in an early game. A winnable game for them I'd think. Should they win early our game would then have no meaning beyond pride and we could root for a win to ruin some Denver magic!

So.. come Sunday early we are NE and Jacksonville fans. Those two are the biggest keys to the outcome.

The Titans have been playing much much worse than the Jags of late. There's a decent shot the Jags win. I really hope so, because I so badly want to root for a win for us.

If Jax wins and we lose, we get the first pick in EVERY round. I would be happy with that. A win would be nice though. Just don't see it happening with this pathetic excuse of a passing offense we have.

The New England/Miami game was pushed back to the 4:25 ET slot, so Denver will have something to play for against us no matter what. Would really like to see Jacksonville win so I could root for us to ruin the Donkeys' chance at a bye.

Updated afterv the end of the regular season. If you have any info on additional trades involving picks please let me know.

The Chiefs should get ONE third round and ONE seventh round compensatory selection (Brandon Carr and Barry Richardson respectively).

Barry Richardson! Lol, I forgot about that poor soul.

What about Kyle Orton? Do we not get a comp pick for him too?

Well his is probably offset by adding Quinn or some other UFA like Hillis or Winston. The whole comp pick thing confuses me, but I know your losses are somehow offset by your gains, so we probably lost one or got a worse one for Barry due to the guys we signed.

Here's a little explanation how the comp draft pick mechanism works. AdamJT13 posted projections regularly until a year ago. We'll see if he returns to duty this year.

As for the Chiefs:

They lost four qualifying players (Carr, McClain, Orton, Richardson) and signed two (Quinn, Hillis). As Quinn and Hillis received bigger contracts than Richardson they should cancel out McClain and Orton from the equation - thus leaving Carr and Richardson to be considered. Whether or not Richardson will qualify is dependent on the playing time incentives reportedly included in his contract. As a rule of thumb no player with a salary lower than 1 M$ will qualify (according to my information Richardson had a 850 k$ base pay).

so by playing Quinn instead of Stanzi we screwed ourselves out of a pick? Is that correct?
