Key word got left out here...

"Emotional Devin Hester says he is considering retiring from NFL."

Sounds like he's just upset about Lovie's firing. He'll likely come around.

I'd bet he sticks around once he cools off.

Lovie Smith is the only HC Devin Hester has had at the NFL level, i'm sure they have a very close bond. Likely just going through a tough time. I'm sure he's also worried about what his role would be under a new HC. His life is about to change, as is Lovie's. This time of the year is rough.

Actully it's not the case ["just upset about Lovie's firing"], this is something that has been on his mind the past 2 years.

Quote:
Devin Hester: "I don't even know if I want to play again. Man, it's been on my mind for two years now."

Quote:
Devin Hester: "I got my workers' comp papers in my pocket. I'll see how I feel. I'm going to go home and talk to my wife and my family."

So he has a history of saying this, thanks for posting that, Lovie getting fired might be the final nail in his coffin. He has his pension, he hopefully has some money put away...should be interesting to see what happens.

I'm sure Lovie will get a hold of Devin and talk him to his senses.

Just an emotional overreaction that happens from time to time.

An extremely emotional player, making an extremely emotional statement. Cooler heads will prevail here I'm sure.

The more important issue is that Brian Urlacher is now almost certain to retire.

Oakland sure as hell could use Hester. Our return games are terrible.
