well this is disappointing. some highlights...

So when Newton turned down one player's request for an autograph and a picture for his kids at a function, it angered the player.
"Who the hell did he think they were?" said one player. "The only people around are families. He knew that. Yet he big-timed the guy by saying 'now's not the time.'"
That player said Newton did the unthinkable and even dissed Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis.
"That's the godfather there," one player said. "Can you believe he did that?"
Said another player: "It didn't matter who it was, he didn't care about anybody but himself." |
i find it hard to believe he dissed ray considering they talked last season (ray did deny the accusations that cam dissed him in the article)... and i also find it hard to believe he'd turn down an autograph and picture for a kid... after all, he always throws the ball into the stands and he also had the special needs kid at his post-draft presser. idk. i wish our QB was liked. though i suppose everyone eventually starts getting hated by press or fans (cutler, rodgers, brady, big ben, vick, tebow). oh well.

Pretty much most realize this is just an agenda against Newton for the most part.
But it's to be expected with such a big persona.

I think he probably did rub some players the wrong way ala Jordan in the All-Star game.
However, I think this article is pretty darn biased (just look at the chart below it - hilarious) and exaggerates on some things.

is anyone really surprised by this? did anyone think cam was a humble guy? now this doesn't affect me liking him as an athlete. but i won't be buying a jersey or anything like that until he grows up. i have a son and i don't want him idolizing a guy like this like i idolized andre reed and jim kelly growing up. happy he's on my team just hope he eventually grows up

Get rid of em both, I say we let Clausen be the franchise and bring back Dwayne Jarrett.

Cam should learn some respect. Take a page out of the books of these stand up players. Maybe drop some quotes smearing other player's reputations and not put his name next to it.
Funny how Cam's been very good the last two games and Prisco still writes a story from the charade that is the pro-bowl. It's kinda performance based, but it's literally a popularity contest.
Look at Cam's current commercials. The play-60 pokes fun at Cam, he brought on Stew and Murphy for the phone commercial and his UA commercial features Smith. He's working on that image. |

Anyone that thinks cams ego isnt a big deal is kidding their self. Super talented kid that MUST grow up. What reason would afc players have to lie?
I hope he gets it together but at this point I dont know
