Graves is good by me. Don't know how anyone else feels but he's good by me. Every player we needed to sign got signed. Daryl Washington's contract is almost a joke. He should be making 1 and a half times what Graves signed him for. _________________

Petrino will jump ship the first chance he gets. That doesn't help us. Kudos for thinking outside the box anyway. _________________

What about our history of poor first rounders? _________________

Poor's a little strong. I'd say inconsistent. There's been a lot of good in there. That said, as Khodder pointed out in another thread, we've already started to take Steve Keim as a bigger voice in the draft room and those drafts have been pretty solid. Gave him a promotion over the summer. Keim makes good draft evaluations, he passes those to Graves, Graves takes those players and when their play merrits it he gets them contracts. Seems like a strong dynamic and I'd prefer not to mess with it.
Besides, who's to say a new general manager would even want Ray Horton as a coach? Any good general manager we could lure here would want to be able to pick his own guy. Nobody decent is going to sign up for the job if Horton's being forced down their throat by ownership. _________________

Bobby is going to get a HC job in college this offseason, and likely one that will pay him a lot too. I also would not be a fan of brining him back to the NFL. _________________ Patrick Peterson - 92 targets, 40 catches allowed, 602 yards, 6 TD's, 7 INT's

I stand by my radical idea to Promote Horton, Hire Norv and trade a first round pick for Philip Rivers. _________________ Patrick Peterson - 92 targets, 40 catches allowed, 602 yards, 6 TD's, 7 INT's

Who's giving him a HC job in college or the pros? He's worn out his HC welcome at both levels... _________________

I think there would be a lot of smaller FBS schools that would love to take him on. Petrino's already said he wants back in. Hell, if past is any indication, he could leave us mid-season if a good offer comes his way. _________________

Lot of collegiate teams would love to have Bobby, will just go look up my guy to get the actual teams in a bit, but he WILL be a head coach in college next season. _________________ Patrick Peterson - 92 targets, 40 catches allowed, 602 yards, 6 TD's, 7 INT's

So, did anyone get a chance to tune into Jurecki's show to hear what he had to say? _________________

Coming back to this from what I hear he could land at Auburn, Cal and Colorado both had interest, but have pulled back.
All via a great NCAA guy, Ben Albright. _________________ Patrick Peterson - 92 targets, 40 catches allowed, 602 yards, 6 TD's, 7 INT's

Didn't he embezzle money from Arkansas to give to his mistress (who worked at Arkansas)? Whichever AD wants to go thru PR hell can go for it... _________________

But I think it's only a matter of time before Keim starts getting serious looks as a possible GM, and if it comes down to keeping Graves and losing Keim or cutting Graves and keeping Keim, I'll go with the latter and not think twice. |

I agree, I think Graves has done a really good job. He has a good history with finding good late round picks that can contribute like David Carter, LSH, Hightower, and Sherman. Even going back, he drafted Antonio Smith, Reggie Wells and Steve Breaston.
I don't think it is fair that people criticize him for the picks that didn't pan out because it is unrealistic to think that each and every single draft pick will be a homerun selection. Every GM misses on draft picks, the key is to not fail spectacularly or consistently and he has certainly done that.
He hasn't thrown bad money around on players either. He should be safe. _________________
