In the FF mock draft they have us going with DE Sam Montgomery. In there mock Te'o and Star were still available. I dont think that would happen but if both were available and we took a DE id be pretty angry

Werner has looked pretty bad in the Orange Bowl against a team who doesn't even belong. In fact, he really hasn't done much all year against good competition. Don't know if I'd use a top 10 pick on him.

I'm not sure he would even fit in a 4-3 scheme after watching this bowl game. He looks more like a 3-4 DE, so I doubt he is even on our board. TBH.

I don't think we need DE really in 1st anymore.
With Ayers and Brown being forces on the blitz, it could push a DE down to the 2nd or so. Maybe try to address DE in FA? Some good guys going to be on the market.
So Werner can get a pass. I like him though. He has come Chris Long to his game. Not dynamic but very solid. |

Kind of like our very own Derrick Morgan, actually.
And I might add, I have the utmost faith in Morgan the way he played down the stretch. I think he's really turning the corner.
I'm really warming up to the idea of Te'o. As much as I like McCarthy, his injuries are bothersome, and Te'o would provide attitude and leadership which our defense lacks.
A marquee DT might also do wonders for us. We've got a bunch of solid to good players there, but nobody stands out.
Trading back for Matt Elam is also an option I'd consider.

I still think he needs to improve on his secondary pass rush move off the bull rush. Hopefully another offseason with Millard will help him in that area. He is turning into a Kevin Carter type of player, not flashy but will have a long career in the NFL. Hopefully this time next year, they can be talking extention for him.

Yea he's great against the run. He'll never be a 16+ sack guy a year but I think he can get close to 10+ with more experience.

Jake Matthews is going back to school so Big Bruce won't be getting his son this year. Really no surprise. He wanted to show everyone he can play LT. He will be a top 5 pick next year:

I really hope we do NOT draft Bjoern Werner with the 10th pick. He is probably the only person I would not like if we drafted him 10th. We really cant mess this draft up if we want to turn this franchise around.

There's a good article here about how much better Webster has been at drafting than Reiny. He really hasn't missed on many players.

We are in a win win situation in 2014.
If Jake Locker plays well then we will have a QB.
If he does not have a good year, which I have no reason to believe he will have a good year, then we can draft Teddy Bridgewater.
