San Diego Chargers @ Pittsburgh Steelers
Sunday December 9, 2012 1:00PM EST
Heinz Field, Pittsburgh, PA
Weather: Sunny Hi 41 Low 33
20% Chance of Rain
Winds SSW @ 7mph
San Diego (4- @ Pittsburgh (7-5)
San Diego’s Rushing Offense 25th in the league with 99.0 yds/game
San Diego Defense
12th in the league in Points Allowed
10th Yards allowed
5th vs the RUN
Malcolm Floyd is the leading receiver with 51 receptions for 765 yds 4TD
Ryan Matthews averaging 4.0 yds/ attempt with 620 yds on 155 carries, 1TD
They’ve done well with the Time of Possession battle at 32:04 per game
Turnover Ratio stands at -2
Rivers has been somewhat pedestrian in the stat category with 18TD -15 INT and an 85.1 passer rating.
Shaun Phillips leads the way with 7.0 sacks, Rookie Melvin Ingram has a disappointing 0.5 sacks as compared to expectations.
Offense is 27th in Sacks Allowed with 32.
Their defense has just 23 sacks.
Don’t see how its possible Turner is saved for another year. Didn’t see how it happened last year, but who fires a coach that goes 14-2? San Diego fans can only reminisce about their cries of “Marty?”

| Rivers stats don't begin to describe how bad he's been. In terms of reads, he's been one of the worst QBs I've seen all year. Just makes some god awful throws, and they don't have much behind them either. He looks like a different QB. |

This is still a 1 PM game? Sucks for Chargers fans. 10 AM wake-up just to see the game? Ouch.
Under / Over - This thread has more posts on Monday than their GDT has all week? _________________ Come Follow My Oakland Multi-Sport Franchise! |

That doesnt make too much sense. We/football fans wake up to see all games at 10am, its actually one of the cooler things about living in the Pacific time zone. Im sure more west coast Steelers fans will be watching than Chargers fans anyway, especially with how they are playing. Who you need to feel for is Hawaii, whose football fans are still spilling their cornflakes before they realize the games have already started at 7am. Even worse few establishments with TVs are actually open for the early starts and the ones that do often have limited selection of games. But it always works out in the end as the last game is over by 5pm just in time for a BBQ. _________________

It will be my first Steeler game since my move to the Mountain Time Zone. So I will be watching at 11AM. _________________ Stay low boys.... keep those feet moving!

Two tours in Japan waking up at 0300 on MONDAY, only to see the first game then have to go to work for the remainder of the games...now THAT really blew. Then of course, there's the year in the Middle East, where the games begin about 2000 on Sunday night...yeah, not feeling sorry for PST folks.
Grew up mostly in Mountain Time and loved it. Always been more of an early riser! _________________

Thanks for getting this thread up so early JPN!
The biggest issue of course with this game is does Ben play, and should he play.
On the one hand he needs to get back into a rhythm, and at home against SD is a good opportunity.
I just want to see him fully healthy and truly ready to roll, and not pressed into service prematurely.
It will be an interesting week of practice, seeing who is ready by the end of the week with the various recent injuries. |

So... this is going to be a slaughter.
As it stands right now, we have one healthy tackle on the entire roster, UDFA Kevin Haslam - who we signed two weeks ago.
| Quote: | | According to Michael Gehlken of U-T San Diego, Chargers coach Norv Turner said Monday that he doesn’t expect left tackle Michael Harris (ankle) or right tackle Jeromey Clary (knee) or left guard Tyronne Green (hamstring) to be available Sunday against the Steelers. |
Oh, and you can go ahead and let Tomlin know now (though any coach worth his salt at all at studying game film will already know)... on second and anything over 4 yards to go, Norv will call either a HB to the A gap or run off-guard to the right... for minimal gain. _________________

We beat the Giants and Ravens, but lost to Oakland, Tenneesse and Cleveland... You guys have this one in the bag, if history repeats itself...
Amazing. If this team has it's "stuff" together; we'd be 10-2 and winning the division... _________________ Come Follow My Oakland Multi-Sport Franchise! |

The Chargers are one of those teams, that the Steelers will crush, if Big Ben is healthy. They aren't horrible like the Chiefs and Raiders, so we'll be focused and prepared. Im gonna say:
Steelers 31
Chargers 14
Without Big Ben:
Steelers 17
Chargers 14 |

Charger fan here saying don't worry a bit Steeler fans. Your team will win, its almost predetermined.
The only thing good about our team is how hard our defense plays. They'll keep Pitt to the 17-24 point range which isn't amazing but it is considering the lack of talent on defense left due to injuries.
Our offense however is pathetic, not Philip Rivers fault for those of you who don't know. Our O-line went from good to childs play with the retirement of pro bowlers Kris Dielman, Marcus McNeil and off season pickup Jared Gaither.
With a rookie left tackle I am sure Woodley & Harrison will have at least 2 sacks each.
You will get to see first hand why Philip Rivers has fallen from elite status, and you will say... "Man I feel bad for that guy, his o-line couldn't block third graders!"
Heres to a good game. |

Unless 7 of those points are scored by our defense, we're not scoring 14. I'd say 10 is the max our offense will be capable of in this at best. The only 1st stringer we have left on our OL is our declining, undersized center who struggles with true NT's to begin with, and possibly we'll be fortunate enough that Louis Vasquez will tough it out and play. We'll be starting at least one UDFA rookie at one of the tackle spots and God only knows who at the other. _________________

This is far from a gimme game, Chargers fans.
As mentioned, we have lost to much worse teams than the Chargers this year.
The only reason I think the Steelers will win is because the Chargers dont seem to fair well on the east coast and teams traveling great distances tend to play worse, even when one team is better than the other (see Steelers at Oakland over the years)
27-17 Steelers if Ben is back..
17-14 if not. _________________

Wow, some risky scores there 43! We agree too much for my liking when it comes to pre-game scores. Warn everyone against cupcakes and show some love against good teams. The Chargers are a middle-of-the-pack type team, at least Id assumed they're perceived that way even with the struggles, due to recent history. |
