Brandon Stokley is no spring chicken, we might have one more year in him if at all. Do you guys think Decker is a viable option at the slot position? I don't think he is athletic enough as an #2 outside receiver. He doesn't turn or change direction fast enough nor is he fast enough to create separation on a consistent basis. However, he does absorb contacts really well, and he doesn't shy away from it which is a key for slot receivers.
Maybe we can 1, pick up an experienced outside receiver or 2, pick up a burner in one of the mid rounds. if you look at our roster we have no depth in WR. Willis is terrible, i have yet to see caldwell do anything spectacular. any thoughts? |

He would prob be fine there, he isn't good enough a WR for the drop in production (if any) to be a real problem.
I support any move that keeps Matt Willis off the field. |

I actually think this might work best. The only problem is the exact same thing you argued for him to not be on the outside:

In the slot you have to have the fast-twitch muscles to change direction on a heartbeat and I dont think Decker has that. Hes best suited on the outside as a #2 or #3 receiver. _________________

I think Decker is fine on the outside, and as Jersey said I don't think he has the short area quickness to create separation as a slot receiver. We can definitely do better with our #2 receiver but we can also do much worse, if we choose to address receiver early in the draft, I hope we go with Robert Woods. I think he would be perfect in the slot. _________________

He can't do those things, in your evaluation at least, and you want to move him to do the slot?
We need like a remedial "Football Basics 101" class or something around here. _________________ big_palooka:

Hows Decker been for you guys? I don't get to watch any Bronco football in Wisconsin but I always keep up on my gophers since there aren't that many in the NFL.
Yes I'm a Gophers fan living in Wisconsin It's lame. _________________

You guys might want to take a look at this article from last year. _________________

When Stokley missed this week's game, Tamme played slot.
Putting a "receiving TE" into the slot WR position is interesting. While Tamme isn't the typical slot player, that matchup gives the team better run blocking and might be repeated even when Stokley is healthy.
Or ... just put Unrein in the slot. |

The thing people forget is that all sorts of players are often in the slot. Not every slot receiver is like Wes Welker or Danny Amondola. Big receivers like Calvin Johnson and Marques Colston very often play in the slot and attack the intermediate areas of the field from there more. It depends on your offense really. _________________ Stop slobbering over Brian Dawkins |

| I second this, but doubt it's gonna happen. The coaching staff likes him and views him as a No. 2 outside receiver. |

He can't be a Welker-esque player, he doesn't have the short-area quickness. It's not gonna happen, he's an outside guy. I honestly view Decker as a #3 WR, and think he would work great in that role. I think we need another WR to pair with DT who is more dangerous, because that isn't Decker. _________________
