Wouldn't be surprised if Winfield retires.
Brian Robison can probably be let go. He's a decent player, but we have Griffen and Reed waiting, who aren't really that much worse and a lot cheaper.
Allen will probably have to have his contract reworked, but if that's the case I'd just see him wanting to play for a contender. Possibly a restructure than trade scenario. Kevin Williams will probably be the same scenario as Allen. Although I wish we could keep both.
John Carlson will be cut as soon as the offseason comes along.
Chris Kluwe will probably be replaced, and rightfully so considering his salary to performance ratio. _________________

Robison is a solid starter and 2013 is the final year of his deal, makes no sense to release him. _________________

The way i see it heading into next season we need to get a new LG, 3 new wr's, 2 new lb's, a dt, and a P. In free agency we need to target 2 wr's and a mlb. In the draft we should go LG in round 1, olb in round 2, dt in round 3, wr in round 4, and bpa the rest of the way.
Out of our free agents the only ones worth bringing back are felton, kevin williams, and schwartz to compete with fusco for the RG position.
Some might think this is an overkill for wr's, but ponder needs playmakers. Wright and harvin are the only wr's worth a damn on this roster and both are slot wr's, hopefully we act a little more aggressively in FA next year since we showed signs of improvement this year |

Yeah no. Griffen is nothing more than a situational pass rusher. If Reed wasn't that much worse he's be getting snaps in the defensive line rotation. _________________

The roster looking forward?
I see four guys that really should be concerned about their job security:
1. Charlie Johnson
2. Brandon Fusco
3. Jasper Brinkley
4. Erin Henderson
I honestly believe the Vikes need to retain their current D-line and secondary, with adding another DT and a bigger corner. At LB, Greenway seems to be the only one making plays and consistently tackling.
On offense, the WR corps needs to be blown-up . . . keep Harvin, Wright, and Childs and then draft two studs.
I'm not sure what to think about the Guards . . . they do pretty well in run blocking most of the time, but are usually just horrendous in pass blocking.
Kluwe may be a guy that gets his walking papers, but he can punt . . . this year he's been more inconsistent than in the past. |

Thanks for reminding me. One of the things Pete Bercich brought up on Rosens Sports Sunday tonight was how Rodgers and Cutler the past two weeks have both been able to break contain and extend plays by scrambling to the right. Not saying that's all on Brian, but he has to keep contain. Could be another reason why sack numbers are down... _________________

Jenkins and Carlson surely should be cut.
I'd like to bring back Sanford(who has played pretty decent when he's paired with a real safety in Smith, good backup), Jefferson, Loadholt, Felton, and Sherells.
Simpson has been awful as the #2, but he might succeed with more time. If he came cheap then I wouldn't mind bringing him back, but not going to make him a priority.
Erin Henderson has been bad compared to last year, wouldn't mind replacing him as well as Jasper. _________________

Thanks, I just looked up the all the Vikings contracts at once and didn't see the post about Pelissero. _________________

Here's the spreadsheet I have. It appears we have 43 guys under contract for next year. The cap is assumed to remain close to what it is this year ($120.6M) and we have $77,018,168 tied up in those 43 players. This leaves us with 10 roster spots and ~$43,581,832 to spend before cuts and the re-signings of guys like Loadholt, Felton, etc..
If you would like to view the spreadsheet send me an email to get permission to do so. _________________

| Hopefully the Vikings can get some cap relief reworking Jared Allens contract. I think he is due for $14M cap hit. I would extend him and get that number around $8M per year. |
