I look at the Titans and I want to look at a team like the 49ers. Coaching means a lot.
I love what Munchak has done. He took over for Fisher and really was a calming hand for a team going down.
But I think of Singletary with the Niners. He was what was needed. He gave them some toughness and discipline but wasn't the guy to get them over the hump.
Enter Harbaugh, he is the guy to get them over the hump. His vision and approach.
Do we need to replace the guy that replaced the guy?
I really struggle with this because, I think given better coordinators the team would be better, but too often we come out looking flat and try to rally late....Munchak's fault?
I hate how on defense we shuffle our safeties so often. Pick two and lets suck with those two. Using 4-5 of them isn't working either.
We have talent, but no clear direction on the field......
Do we honestly need to replace Munchak?

If Harbaugh is available, I will allow you to fire Munchak. _________________

Ken Whisenhunt
Mike Smith
John Harbaugh
John Fox
Bruce Arians
Rex Ryan
Mike Tomlin
Norv Turner
Jim Harbaugh
Pete Carroll
All made the playoffs with their new team in their 1st year and/or 2nd year. Some have turned crappy since then, but why do we end up with this trash? _________________

Munchak has done absolutely nothing to warrant being retained next year.

Not to mention, Jim Schwartz took the worst team in NFL history and made them a very respectable team (until this year). _________________

I guess its like a player after a promising rookie year. He did some good things that differed from Fisher, going for it on 4th more often. A more honest and open approach.
There was a level of accountability last year with the players.
Not afraid to play rookies
Just an overall difference from Fisher that was positive. _________________ "I'm not locked in here with you. You locked in here with ME!" |

I certainly think we need to replace him. We went 9-7 under him last year and this season we've clearly regressed for a large number of reasons. Inconsistency, turnovers, just looking lost, defeated, and totally unprepared on both sides of the ball.
IMO going from a borderline playoff team to where we are now is enough justification for me. |

I agree with you on some of those points. He is more aggressive on fourth and I love how he gives young, athletic rookies a shot.
But games like today are becoming all too common. We walk onto the field for kickoff and one quarter later we are down by multiple scores. That is just unacceptable and falls on Munch. _________________

Yea majority of this season really chips away at that love.
Some of the things I can't blame him. Turnovers and small things like Reynard's game of fielding punts horribly.
Only thing that can save him, is if Locker really starts to light it up these last 4 games....A head coach is only as good as his QB. Locker is his guy.
He might get another season with different coordinators.
I really am starting to question him as Head Coach and I guess I'm late to the party on that boat..lol
Are 2 seasons fair? Should he be given that 3rd season?
How many really improve in that 3rd season? _________________ "I'm not locked in here with you. You locked in here with ME!" |

Blow it up. I don't know who we replace them with, but if we keep a single person outside a couple FO guys that is already with this organization, I'll be quite upset. _________________

Yeah, Derek Dooley. |
He's the son of Vince Dooley, so he can't be that bad. |

Looking back at coaches that were replaced by current roster of NFL coaches.. Coaches fired after 2 seasons....and then there were a group that were fired after 3 and it only got worst after the 2nd year...
Fired after 2 seasons;
Jim Zorn- Redskins (replaced by Mike Shanhan)
Hue Jackson- Raiders (Replaced by Dennis Allen)
Eric Mangini Cleveland Browns- replaced by Pat Shumur
Josh McDaniels Broncos (replaced by John Fox)
Fired after 3 Seasons:
Rahiem Morris - Bucs (replaced by Greg Schanio) Got worst after year 2
Steve Spagnalo- Rams (replaced by Jeff Fisher) Got worst after year 2
Mike Singletary -49ers (replaced by Jim Harbaugh) Got worst after year 2
Eric Mangini- Jets (replaced by Rex Ryan) Got better after year 2
Todd Haley- Chiefs (replaced by Romeo Cronnel) Got worst after year 2
Rod Marinelli- Lions (replaced by Jim Schwartz) GOT HELL LOT WORST after year 2 (0-16)
Dennis Green- Cardinals (replaced by Ken Wisenhunt) stayed same after year 2 (5-11 two years in a row)
Jim Caldwell- replaced by Chuck Pagano- Worst after year 2 (no Manning.)
In looking back, I couldn't find a coach that had a rough 2 first seasons and get better.
Coaches who took over for poor teams, may have had bad 1st years, but got better (Lovie Smith, Schwartz....etc)
None started good, got worst (Munchak) and then got better...
So do we skip year 3 and go head and rip off the band aid? _________________ "I'm not locked in here with you. You locked in here with ME!"

You don't have SIX games in one year where you are completely blown off the field by your opponent. Not with a team that is at least close to middle of the pack talent wise (and was 9-7 the year before). Sorry, Munchak, won't be upset if you go. _________________
