Actually depending on free agency it could be worse. The Lions are in cap .... Simply because of the high draft picks prior to the rookie cap.
No matter how this plays out I don't believe for a minute they are going to be a contender next year. They need a few more successful drafts and some luck. _________________

Yet coaches are getting the blame. Fact is this franchise overachieved last year.
It is heading in right direction but the prior regime but it in financial trouble big time.
It is going to take several years to turn this mess around.
Unfortunately the current staff will get blamed and cut loose too early and cycle will repeat itself over and over _________________

We should have more room than that guy is leading on. And, he makes it sound like some of the guys with bigger contract cant be cut, but they could really. _________________ Kate Upton for sexy President!!!

No!
The point is the letters.
Sorry guys. My sarcasm meter is on overload today. I was trying to be funny.
I fail. _________________

I meant the minor difference in numbers not that big.
Of course they matter but overall his work is fairly accurate _________________

| If you compare it to Netrat, he's only moderately high on Raiola(2million), KVB(1million) and Shaun Hill(500K). The point is we're screwed for a few years with the cap. I thought last year was an unbelievably ambitious year. Just like for the Colts this year, everything seemed to go our way. I think we're two solid years of excellent drafting from being a mainstay in the playoffs. Should be a fun off-season with a potential top 5 pick. |

Just gotta hope the guys we've drafted the past few years develop quickly and we start hitting on more of our draft picks.
We'll be stuck in cap hell for at least another season, it's suppose to increase at some point I think around 2014 or 2015. Tough riding until then more than likely. _________________

Millen hell followed by cap hell.

Millen hell caused the cap hell.
Those high draft picks are from the Millen ERA _________________

Sportrac is pretty damn good actually; their site is organized well and has the contracts and cap hits for every player, on every team. _________________ Are you getting Ziggy with it? |

I know it's easy to be all doom and gloom, I fall in there myself, but as bad as we've been playing outside of probably the San Francisco and Minnesota games we had a chance to win if we could make that one extra play.
That's the big difference between last year and this year... last year we could make the comeback and close out games, this year we can't. _________________

The cap is all jacked up next season. Stafford's hit is debilitating. He's not worth the money, and needs to restructure. He's just not a big enough difference maker.
Houston has to be top priority. Avril deserves a contract averaging $10M, of course not guaranteed though- he should have to earn those figures.
I don't look for the Lions to acquire any notable F/A's, we'll be lucky to keep our own. We don't have the luxury of tagging a bunch of players like we did last season. Better hope these guys believe in what Schwartz and Mayhew are doing, or else we could be left holding the short end of the stick for real. _________________ Are you getting Ziggy with it? |
