It's sad that there isn't one player on that list that I'd even care if they were gone. Bryant can stay, though. _________________

Shughnessy depends on contract. Reggie won't over pay him. He isn't an ideal RE. Maybe better suited at LE
wheeler I'm sure they will bring him back. He is good for depth.
Bryant def worth a deal. Good role player.
Hanson good depth
Myers he is decent but he can't block whatsoever. I really want to see ausberry/Gordon play more.
The rest let walk.
Thoughts? |
I'd let every person on that list walk except for Myers, Stewart, Hagan, Wheeler, and D. Bryant.
Sadly it'd be impossible to replace all those guys in one offseason so we'd have to keep quite a few of them. _________________ (MLB)=A's, (NFL)=Raiders, (NBA)= Warriors

Even though I feel everyone on the list is expendable, I'd potentially bring back:
RB - Jeremy Stewart – OAK
RB - Mike Goodson – OAK
WR - Derek Hagan – OAK
TE - Brandon Myers – OAK
DT - Desmond Bryant – OAK
DE - Matt Shaughnessy – OAK
LB - Philip Wheeler – OAK
SS - Michael Mitchell – OAK
I wasn't too sure on Bartell or Spencer with their health concerns.
We can't get rid of everyone. There needs to be some sort of depth/veteran experience before heading into training camp. It's almost impossible to replace the whole roster - especially with our salary cap the way it is. _________________

Another cheap, 1-year deal for Bartell sounds good to me. |
No thanks. He's done. _________________

| More importantly, what kind of cap room are we looking at going into next year? |

They signed King to a 3 years contract as a UDFA. I'm sure there's a reason for this. _________________

Nobody has signed him off our practice squad. Maybe a reason for that as well. |

Out of all our FA's I'd keep:
Jeremy Stewart – Hasn't looked bad when given a shot. Young and cheap. Especially worth keeping if he's still PS eligible after this year. Regardless, we could always cut him in TC
Mike Goodson – Has looked solid in his few chances. A bit injury prone maybe, but he'd be cheap and good in a rotation
Derek Hagan – Reliable vet WR. We need those. Even still, we could cut him before the season
Brandon Myers – Worth keeping around to try to see some improvement. He's been pretty good this year and would be inexpensive to bring back.
Alex Parsons – Depth, I guess.
Desmond Bryant – Has been a fine role player in his time here. Maybe we should expand it a bit.
Omar Gaither – Versatile; can play all 3 LB spots. Wouldn't be a bad backup. Can always cut.
Philip Wheeler – Gives up plays sometimes but makes up for them to break even imo. I'd say he's about average and we can't afford to create more holes on defense especially.
Joselio Hanson – Alright slot CB. Can't afford to get rid of all our CBs. Has made some plays this season.
Shawntae Spencer – Old, but still a decent depth option.
Which means I'd be fine with saying goodbye to:
Matt Leinart, Owen Schmitt, Duke Calhoun, Zach Hurd, Khalif Barnes, Cooper Carlisle, Andre Carter, Matt Shaughnessy, Kaelin Burnett, Brandian Ross, Phillip Adams, Coye Francies, Matt Giordano, Michael Mitchell, Ronald Bartell, Shane Lechler
Of them I'd consider keeping Leinart, Barnes and Lechler. But like I said, I'd be alright with all of them gone. _________________
