| He's better in space and really, does'nt do much inside ? I rarely see him get off a block and meet the RB in the hole. |

Where are you gonna put him ? He's more of a drop back in coverage or chase guy. He whiffs alot inside ! |

If you put him anywhere, it's Will. The Sam's job is setting the edge and taking on blockers.
But I agree he's been miserable.

They have Dunbar and James is big and athletic enough. He just does'nt like sticking his nose in there at MLB.
I guess what i'm getting at is that i think he would be better at SLB than MLB.
Baffeling that they signed him to that new contract ? |

Which doesn't make sense.
The Sam LB is the STRONG-SIDE LB. Meaning he lines up on the side of the LOS where the TE is specifically because the Sam LB is typically a bigger, athletic LB that can take on blocks, set the edge in the running game and cover the TE.
That's not James Laurinaitis at all. That only exposes his weaknesses even worse.

no just no, I'm not even a huge laurinitis fan but he does a good job getting our defense ready for the offense. If we move him we take one of his biggest strengths away(his leadership ability).
Yes extremely athletic QB's and RB's make him look silly but they do that to everyone. |

It skipped his first 3 phenomenal years.
Btw, he had 10 tackles today and they were all Solo.

I watched the game and only saw 2-3 tackles ? There were alot where he was the 3rd or 4th guy in on a tackle. I just don't see him as a good MLB. |

He belongs at Mike. He reads his keys and knows how to play every type of run or pass, understands gap integrity and proper leverage. Furthermore he is paramount in getting the defense on the same page. He may not be the greatest physically and really is pretty undersized, but the other attributes are more important.
Now would i love a physical stud who can make all the plays from sideline to sideline?... Sure but those kind of guys (unless its the rare elite like ray lewis) usually come with the price of making costly errors as well.
JL55 missed some tackles but hes a very good football player and is fine where hes at.

he is, But people have forgotten his 3 years and only seem to recall this year..
