Report: Bills talking to Byrd
Quote: | ESPN is reporting that the Bills have begun talks with safety Jairus Byrd. According to the report, it's just preliminary talks and no deal is imminent. |
Good news, I'm glad a dialogue has started. A Byrd extension (as well as Levitre) would be great. _________________

No deal will be completed prior to the FA Process. Here's how Agents play the game. Eugene Parker (S Jairus Byrd) wants his client to get to Free Agency or receive a massive deal from the Bills. David Dunn at Athletes First wants the same deal for his client OG Andy Levitre.
Byrd signing an extension with 5 games remaining in the 2012 season allows the Bills to utilize the Franchise Tag on LeVitre. I'm not stating they collude to any extent, but both agents recognize their clients are due for big paydays.
One gets Franchise, One gets Away. |

There is no reason these 2 get paid.. You don't see successful franchises letting there talents hitting prime to walk |

Damnit
I was just about to start a thread asking you guys the chances of re-signing him.
We have a serious issue at FS and a lot of cap room.
I'm happy for you that he may be reupped.

Though to be honest, we would take Jarius or Andy, whoever you don't want. _________________

Very good news! Questioned the pick when it happened, but he quickly changed my mind his rookie seasom. I love Byrd he's one of my favorite bills players we need him to be re-signed. _________________

If he's leaving the Bills, the Redskins secondary needs him more. Still takes some poor angles, but he's developing into a really good player.
The Redskins fan in me hopes he leaves, but I would like to see the Bills keep their young talent. I am sure the presence of Mario and Kyle Williams, along with Dareus helps in his decision. A good DL is a DBs best friend. |

If we resign Byrd than at the very least it gives us another year of Levitre. I would guarantee he gets franchised. |

I may be in the minority but if we could only have one, I would take Levitre.
I think Bryd is a possible HOF player, but having our O-line in tact for years to come is priceless to me. Glenn-Levitre-Wood-Urbik and either Pears or Hairston at RT could be a dominant O-line for the next 5 years at least. I would love to re-sign Bryd but with the way Searcy has played and the possible move of A.Williams to S i feel losing him would be less of a hit on the team overall. _________________
