I don't think they would give him a salary of $4-5 million. If he doesn't win the starting job, that is a lot to pay a backup. I see a base salary of $1-2 million with incentives that could push it up.
I am not sure what the going rate is for QBs who have to compete for a starting job. Matt Moore is making less than $3 million. Chad Henne is making $2.5 million. That is kind of all I have to base it on. So I guess we could offer Kolb $2-3 million with incentives, but not much more. _________________

Yeah - incentives - I'm sure that's the keyword when it comes to someone competing for the starting spot. |

The difference though is that Flynn was brought in with the expectation of being the starter for at least the near future. He was not supposed to be the backup. He is owed over $7 million next year so we will be hearing some changes on that front come the offseason. No one gets paid that much to hold a clipboard. _________________

Yup... No doubt he'll be gone. 8M to hold a clipboard for 1 year ain't too shabby though. _________________

I don't know. While I completely understand your point, with the injuries racking up to starting QBs this year and the stringent concussion policy backup QBs are as valuable as ever. Teams are gonna have to start paying up to lock down that spot. Otherwise, you end up like Pittsburgh. _________________
