Defense caught some lucky breaks, but overall this was probably their best performance of the year. They adjusted really well to the Miami running game. _________________

Against bad teams that turn the ball over.
I doubt the Pats could beat a good team without the offense playing very well | Turnovers were 1-1 _________________

Ugly wins are still wins and beating Miami in Miami can be a challenge at times.
But yeah, this was pretty much as disappointing as a win can be. |
I would have agreed before the last drive.
But the fact that they actually did what they have to be able to do to on the last drive was really encouraging. The Dolphins have a great run defense. _________________

You guys are so negative it's almost funny.
We're about to be 9-3, wrapped up the division. Unreal. _________________

I was also considering the botched punt turnover on downs. |

I doubt the Pats could beat a good team without the offense playing very well | Compared to what happened against Arizona and Seattle [neither of which is a powerhouse offense], this is a major improvement. _________________

There were quite a few passes that someone better than Tannehill would have easily made, including two that would have likely been touchdowns. _________________

He is pretty useless. One good game does not a career make.
Kyle Arrington's had a few good games too |
That's right. Who else would it have been.
Nobody said anything about a career. It's his first opportunity of the season and he answered so I'm gonna give him the benefit of the doubt. Keyword: opportunity |
Scott's played 60 snaps in the 2 previous games. He's had opportunities and he's looked dreadful in them. This isn't his first playing time of the season.
He's a pretty useless player who has made some nice plays today. I don't see how that's a controversial statement. |
You stated Scott was useless even before the increased snaps the last two games. When all he had play was special teams and garbage time. |
Like when he got 18 snaps as Baltimore and looked terrible? Or when he looked useless on special teams?
I don't know why you're trying to defend the guy, other than just to argue with me.
His 2 QB hits today have been just about the only decent plays he's had this whole season. And it's not like he's been tearing it up the rest of the time today.
He's not a good player. He's a backup who has blatantly struggled in the 1 thing he is reputedly good at (getting to the QB).
Sometimes backups have a few bright moments in their careers. Doesn't make my evaluation of him incorrect, it just tells me that you are very easily swayed by one or two highlight plays. |
18 snaps against Baltimore. That's very sufficient. Scott hasn't done anything to deem himself 'terrible' from what you state. He hasn't gotten time to showcase his game. It's his first game starting, and he put in a good showing. So yeah, he's a not a terribly useless player you pessimist. _________________

Definitely not a satisfying game, but playing against a familiar division rival is always challenging. That explains the reason why Houston struggled against Jacksonville, and 49ers struggle against Rams. _________________

There's no such thing as an "unsatisfying" win. As long as you get one that's all that matters. _________________ All the other D's with the pumped up schemes

I really have no idea why you're so hostile towards me, but whatever.
Scott played a lot of meaningful snaps vs. the Ravens and provided nothing in the way of a pass rush. You claimed he had only played in garbage time which is flat wrong.
You think Trevor Scott is a useful or competent player. I think he's a mostly useless player who had a pair of 2 nice plays. That doesn't make me a pessimist. It makes me a guy who doesn't view Scott's skillset favorably. Plenty of people here bash Kyle Arrington (or whomever) and I don't see you getting your blood pressure up and calling them pessimists.
It might surprise you, but sometimes it's OK to think players aren't any good. You can think he's a good player all you want, and that's fine. But your attempts to attack me or "prove me wrong" are pretty lame. |

Agree. For a backup, I wouldn't call Scott useless. He stepped up fairly well for a backup.
His 18 snaps against the Ravens still got him 1 tackle which tied starters Ninkovich that game, and bested Chandler Jones 2 assist. Which explains why you can't really expect all that much from him as a backup when even the starters with more playing time did just as much as he did. _________________
