I once saw this idea on another website and thought it would be interesting to apply it here.
Basically, the idea is to have two people debate a topic that is relevant about the Jets right now, i.e. Mark Sanchez, Rex Ryan, Holmes, and so on. The difference is the arguments are made in a courtroom style way, meaning you are either defending or prosecuting a player, coach, or philosophy. Once the arguments are made, you can call upon "witnesses", to support your argument. After the cases have been made, a vote will be held to determine the "fate" of the accused. Since I know we have some sharply contrasting opinions here, I figured this would be a fun way to argue current issues on the Jets.
Obviously, we would need participants for this to work, so before I go any further, I need to know if people would want to participate. I figure most debates in the past have had maybe two or three paragraphs, so it really shouldn't be more complicated than that. If you're interested, let me know here.
Here are a few sample cases that would come up
Mark Sanchez v. State of New York - Stick with Sanchez, or get rid of him
Rex Ryan v. State of New York - Give Ryan another chance, or get rid of him
Ground and Pound Philosophy v. NFL - Old school vs. New school |

4 or 5 years ago we did this when I actually posted a lot and it was a lot of fun. Not going to participate but I'll certainly pay close attention. _________________

Good idea but I don't have enough time to do it. Should be fun to read though. _________________

| College exams time otherwise I would defend Rex, oppose Sanchez and be neutral on Ground and Pound. |

Great idea. I'm in.
I'm guessing this is similar to the debate threads that are in the forum directory. _________________

Yea it's pretty much just a debate with a different context.
Ok, so I think we have enough to get started, hopefully well have more participants as we go. I know most of us are college students so time is tight, but everyone needs a break every once in a while
I guess we'll do first come first serve for who's on each side.
First wave. Pick to either defend or prosecute one of the following:
Mark Sanchez
Rex Ryan
Ground and Pound Offense |

I love this idea, but I'm not going to join in this time. I'll just watch. _________________

Yea I'm not trying to make this a super intensive thing. Just a place to say your piece about a controversial topic in Jets land.
Anyone who wants to participate can pick a side of a topic, and once both sides are represented, you'll have a couple days or something to put together your argument. Again, I'm not trying to make this an essay. If you want to, go ahead, but a few paragraphs should be fine to start. You'll have an opportunity to rebuke what your opponent says as well, but again, it's at your discretion how lengthy you make it.
Once you pick a side and finish writing your argument, PM it to me. I'll post both arguments at the same time. |

If people want to do it, I'll administer the game again.
Same rules, same topics. Read up to see everything. |
