How's the Texas Tech football team shaping up for next season?
I'm transferring to Tech in January and followed them really closely this year, and obviously it's disappointing after they beat WVU and TCU how they fell off the map (just like 2011...)
Now Seth Doege is gone, so whose next in line? Do I have any reason to be excited for next season?
While you're at it, hows the basketball team? I know they aren't great or anything when the biggest thing you hear about them is about their coach and how nuts he was, but is there any player whose worth watching? I'm planning on going to at least a few games whenever I'm there in a month so I'm just wondering. |
Michael Brewer will be the QB for the next few years. He's a much different QB than Doege or any other QB we've had here in a long while. He can really run the ball so teams will have to respect his legs as well as his arm. This is the type of QB Tubbs likes to use in his offenses.
On Defense, we are returning some absurd number of starters. We are a very young team on both sides of the ball.
As far as recruiting goes, like DaBoys said, we will never get the top guys in Texas. However, Tubbs is doing some good work outside the state. We recently got a verbal from the Number #1 Dual Threat QB in the COUNTRY in D.J. Gillins from Florida. The future looks promising. |
Sounds awesome. I didn't realize that we were such a young team. The defense sounds very promising concerning next season since we're returning a ton of starters and they're young.
Hopefully we can get DJ Gillins to sign, the #1 dual threat QB would be awesome to have and I'm sure just him signing here would bring others with him.

Just like my Phoenix Suns. Love it. _________________

As everybody knows, I was quite vocal this offseason about the Cowboys failure to improve the offense this offseason. I was one of the few that actually acknowledged an offensive problem and predicted the offense would struggle this season.
Here is an example of Matts' vast football knowledge and his response...

The most "Romo Friendly" thing that could be done by the Dallas Cowboys is significantly improve the defense. |
Exactly, our offense was not even close to the problem last year. Holding leads was. |
In 3 of the last 5 games, Dallas scored 13, 7 and 14 points. We lost all 3. We could not convert a first down to preserve a "win" against NYJ, NE and NYG (and probably others). Are you sure that that the offense wasn't "close to the problem?" |
 |
Since then, Matts has actually acknowledged that I was right and the offense is "putrid" this season.
Unfortunately JWin, I'm totally booked at work today and I'm going to the UNLV basketball game tonight so I won't be able to help out on your podcast. All that being said, if Matts is available, you should take him up on the offer. What he lacks in football knowledge, he makes up for in farting noises. _________________ Quote from May 7, 2013...

So, it's my buddies Birthday today (as of 15 mins ago) and I just found out he has never been to a strip club. Okay - that's not true...I knew he hasn't been to one but his girl has never okay-ed it before. Today she called me and said I could take him. Looks like I am making a trip to Tampa this weekend! _________________
