Doss has a whopping 5 catches this season, that's not a big enough sample size to base anything off of. I think he'll be a useful player but I wouldn't be too confident in him as the replacement for Boldin.

Why not pursue one of the packers' WR's like James Jones or Greg Jennings? They can't hold on to all of those guys.

Personally, I don't think we need WRs. Between JJ, Torrey, Q, the TEs, Doss, Williams, Thompson, Streeter(we have him on the PS, right?) I feel like we have enough pass-catchers to keep us from going after a WR in FA.

I think he's on IR if I'm not mistaken.

Quote:
Tommy Streeter will essentially get a redshirt season.

The sixth-round rookie wide receiver is headed to injured reserve.

That means he will not play this season, but is still a member of the team and thus protected from other teams trying to sign him.

I feel that, too. We have 3 legit WR's and a lot of guys who could be productive if coached up.

What we really need is an OC who actually uses said players.

Unreliable hands/contracted and $$$/age respectively

I honestly have a feeling we may move on from Q next year. A core of Torrey/Titus/Jacoby, with Doss taking over for Q in the slot, would give us our best Pittsburgh impersonation.

If we move on from Q, we most certainly wouldn't bring in Young to replace him. All 3 of our WRs wouldn't have the most reliable hands. We'd need to bring in a nice possession guy to fill Q's role in the slot.

But, I personally think we hang onto him for another year or two.
Don't you think we have that in Doss? From what he's shown this year, he might just have the best hands on the team.

We very well could, though his separation skills leave something to be desired. At least with Q, he can use his physicality to force himself open in the slot.

But the point was more about Young not really fitting in here, IMO.

If what they're saying about Titus Young is true, I wouldn't want that guy on the Ravens. In fact, I'd be surprised if he makes another NFL team.

Raiders HC Dennis Allen announced that he has suspended linebacker Rolando McClain two games for conduct detrimental to the team.

It looks like he isn't being released (yet).

Agreed.

More than this, I simply don't trust our receivers. Sure we have some of them making key plays and making circus catches, but sometimes... I just think it would be nice to have more receivers like Smith... who, granted can make those same plays... but upon being single covered are getting enough separation where they don't need to make circus catches all the time.

I mean, that's what concerns me most. The only uncontested Doss reception I can recall was off of that screen pass for the TD.

Tommy Streeter? He's not going to convince me of anything. He got beat for a roster spot by an UDFA. Jacoby Jones? Beast as a return specialist. And when he gets a chance to shine at WR, he tends to perform... but his hands will never be elite and he doesn't add an extra dimension for us to utilize in the redzone.

Our biggest need at receiver is probably a redzone threat since- on paper- we have an abundance of both burners: Smith, Jones, Thompson; as well as possession types: Boldin, Doss, Williams, etc. But that's just on paper. Besides Smith when he's not bracketed and Jones on occasion, none of our receivers consistently prove to get separation. I think we still need help at WR and will think so until our offense isn't consistently being shut down for long stretches when we're playing on the road because our receivers aren't gaining separation.

The group of WR's on this team are very solid, no doubt, but solid isn't good enough in Cam's system.

And we all know Cam isn't going anywhere, so we still desperately need a great WR who is Cam Cameron proof.

And who the hell would fit that mold? we've brought in several WR's over the years and they've all been left on the sidelines for Cam's 2 WR system. Jacoby Jones has shown this year he's more than capable of playing as a 3rd WR, but Cam just doesn't believe in that.

I hope Streeter develops and can play a role next season, because his physical tools are fantastic. If I recall correctly, the talk during the draft was that he wasn't ready to come out of college, but with the sanctions against Miami, he and a lot of their other players jumped ship.

So him not making the roster this season hasn't been too much of a worry for me. Not when the Ravens already had Boldin, Smith, Jones, Doss, Williams and then Deonte Thompson impressed as well. Too many receivers who could justify a spot on the roster.

But I'd be surprised if they're all still Ravens next season. Especially LaQuan Williams, who I can't remember catching a ball this season. If Streeter struggles in training camp, after a year with the team on 'IR', then I think that will tell us what we need to know about him.

That's simple. A receiver that is multi-faceted. Someone that can excel in any kind of offense with any kind of role- a receiver with a high level work ethic. That's Terrance Williams. The guy is incredibly smooth with his routes, has the speed to go deep, and has the quickness to create separation. I'd say he's a great WR if I ever saw one. He can do it all... As well as present at least some added redzone ability similar to how Smith isn't elite in that regard but is pretty darn good. Williams is also a natural hands catcher so it will see less drops with our receiver unit.
