| Sorry if this is already posted or being discussed. I didn't see it. Per www.nfl.com Jason Babin has been released. Should the front office take a look at him, a pass rusher is a need? He had 19 sacks last season so he should still have some fire in him. The wide 9 technique didn't work for him this year. Discuss? |

Absolutely. I don't see any reason not to assuming it'll be cheap and it should be.... _________________

Yes. Solid stop gap for next season while we add young pass rushers _________________

No thanks.
Locker room issues and you have to claim his salary off waivers. _________________

Our season is over, don't see the point picking him up unless we plan on keeping him next year. The guy is going to be 33 next April, he's at an age where his play will just keep dropping off. Last thing this team needs is another OAP on our Dline. _________________

Actually, good points. We don't need anymore overpaid players. No thanks.
Apparently was a bad locker room influence as well, like you said _________________

From the looks of their forum thread, Eagle fans 100% are content to see him cut.
One dimensional, only good in one system, doesn't play the run, only cares about stats, high paid, looking for big bucks, skipped OTAs to run with the bulls.
Sounds a good amount like Tommy Kelly at DE to me. I we are gonna cut Kelly in the offseason, and everyone really wants us to, why do we add his baby clone at DE now? We don't. Hopefully. |

| After I read the Eagles forum I didn't wanna take a flyer on him either. I figured it would be a good post to see others opinions on the matter. Without the locker room issues and his attitude I would take a look at him but, since those factors are in play, I say we look elsewhere. |

I don't see anyone picking up his contract so he'll likely pass through waivers unclaimed. I say why not. He's a good pass rusher, something we desperately need.
Oh, he's a bad locker room influence? He might get us distracted from all the winning we're doing! _________________

That's some bad reasoning, what benefit would we get by bringing in a bad locker room guy at this point, who's on the downside of his career if like you said, we're not winning? To create even more problems? No thank you. It won't help us this year, (since we're not winning, like you said) and going forward we won't need guys who can't handle adversity on a rebuilding team. _________________

The point is that he might help us win. After these last 4 weeks, there is nowhere to go but up, especially on defense. He wouldn't be part of the long term solution but I imagine he would be an upgrade over Andre Carter and maybe he could show Shaggy and LaMarr a few moves. My point at the end was that there isn't really anything he can do to make it worse. _________________

At first I was thinkin we should be all over him, but then I read about him being a negative influence in the locker room and how bad his contract looks. Not worth the big buck especially being one dimensional. He'd only make things worse in the locker room with our team being so terrible.
This would be an Al type signing and thats exactly what we're trying to avoid. _________________

Moves like this are moves we should be staying away from. We would only have to pay a small amount for the rest of this season, but would still have to pay him his old contract the next few seasons (from my understanding). He's not worth it. People look at his stats and think he's a great pass rusher, but the guy is an aging bum. Don't like his personality & don't find him being a good fit for this team regardless.
Aside from all of that, he's undisciplined & one dimensional.
Nnamdi Asomugha will probably be next. _________________
