Three Match-Ups to Watch:
1. Ravens OLBs vs Chargers OTs
By now everybody know how bad Jeromey Clary is at RT and with an UDFA rookie is Mike Harris starting at LT, the Chargers have had real problems in pass protection. They have allowed 26 sacks so far, which is good for equal 9th in the league. This week could be a good chance for Terrell Suggs and co to gain some confidence in getting to the QB.
2. Ravens Rush Attack vs Chargers Front 7
The Chargers are ranked eighth overall (323.9 ypg), including third against the run (87.9 ypg) and coupled with the fact that Ray Rice has topped 42 rushing yards just once (!) in the past 4 games (98 yards against Cleveland, but that doesn't count ), this game will be a test for the running game. Hopefully Cam Cameron doesn't abandon it too early and both Ray Rice and Bernard Pierce can run all over the Chargers.
3. Ravens Secondary vs Chargers WRs
This one is more of a historical key given how easily Philip Rivers has torn up the Ravens secondary in recent times compared to how poorly he has played so far this year. Is this because of the relative lack of quality in his receiving core? Or maybe the pass protection? Or maybe he has genuinely regressed? I don't know, and to be honest, I don't really care. All I hope is that whatever is wrong isn't fixed for this week.
We all know nobody cares about this game that has been sandwiched between the two big rivalry games against the Steelers, but here's hoping that we don't have one of those post-big game let downs like we did last week.
Oh, I nearly forgot the obligatory images that always go with the Chargers on the internet:

| Should be a good game, LIKE DRD said I feel like our pass rushers will get to rivers this week and gain some good confidence. Im sure Sizzle didnt like watching the highlights of being ourtan by Lefty. Obviously our CBS are a concern, but as long as we can cover Gates we should be fine. Ravens win finally in San Diego, 30-17 |

What? Gaither? The epitome of hard work and determination? The shining beacon of reliability? He's on injured reserve? Impossibru!

I'm nervous about this game, but with VJax gone, I feel a bit more confident than last year. But then again, our defense isn't as good, so that neutralizes it a bit. I think it'll be a relatively high scoring affair..
Ravens 31
Chargers 27
Flacco: 18/27, 264 yards, 2 TD, INT
Rice: 14 carries, 74 yards, 2 TD; 2 rec, 17 yards
Smith: 4 rec, 74 yards, TD
Boldin: 4 rec, 77 yards
Pitta: 4 rec, 38 yards
Jones: 1 rec, 34 yards, TD
Dickson: 2 rec, 16 yards
Leach: 1 rec, 8 yards
Kruger: 1.5 sack
Pollard: 1 sack
Upshaw: FF
Ngata: .5 sack
Reed: INT _________________

My gut is telling me the Raves will win, but I can also see the Chargers winning rather convincingly. Rivers usually tears up the Ravens and it's a road game....

Someone a few weeks back suggested it was a mistake letting him walk. I think this confirms it was the right move. |

*raises hand*, that was me who said letting Gaither walk was the wrong move. I'm beginning to retract that statement lol.
Anywho, no VJax + no Jimmy Smith = we won't be seeing Philip bomb it deep for TD's all game, thus the good guys will win, and probably win big.
I predict 3 sacks for the D (2 from Kruger, as he continues to be on fire), and 2 INT's (one from Cary, one from Bernard Pollard).
Jacoby Jones does his weekly PR or KR for a TD and follows it with the most ridiculous dance we've seen yet!

I think the Ravens will win this but I'm expecting a high-scoring game. Rivers hasn't played that well this season (still has 17 TDs and a 67% completion rate) but neither has Baltimore's pass-defense. The front seven has played better recently and San Diego's offensive line isn't good but I think Rivers has a fairly good/decent game anyways. I don't expect Matthews to do much though.
I'm looking forward to seeing how they plan their coverages around Floyd and Alexander. For all the talk about how bad Rivers has played nobody seems to be noticing how unproductive Gates has been even though he's been healthy. The Ravens have had troubles with TEs at times this season so he's a guy to watch out for.
On the other side of the ball... who knows what Ravens offense will show up. San Diego has a good run-defense but Flacco should be able to throw on them. Key word being should. It seems like Flacco, the offensive line, and the receivers are rarely in sync. Like drd23 mentioned Rice hasn't done a whole lot recently and this isn't a great match-up for him to get going but I'm not too worried about it. He's probably the most reliable player on offense and he'll break out of the funk sooner or later (please be sooner).
My final prediction is 31-24 Ravens. |

Good. Let's hope for a BRUTAL hard-hitting game that results in no injuries on the field, but lots of people have to sit out next week when they play us _________________

We are going to crush the steelers for you | Meh, I won't put too much faith in you guys. You are, after all, the Browns... Although, Charlie Batch is the great half-white equalizer. I have some faith after reconsidering all the factors. _________________
