Looking at some chat rooms by Dolphins fans it seems they are not to happy with him... Why not bring him home? In some chats I saw fans saying they would let him go for a 2nd-3rd Rounder.
Would you guys at all be interested in Tradeing a 2nd/3rd for him? Or we could make a player swap cause I know they need a DE bad so Cliff Avril for Jake Long? What do you guys think?
OL Depth Chart
LT- Jake Long - Jason Fox
LG- Rob Sims - Stephen Peterman
C Bill Nagy - Dominic Raiola
RG Jeff Backus - Dylan Gandy
RT Riley Reiff - Gosder Cherilus _________________

While I like the idea of grabbing long there is a problem. The only way we can trade for Long is if they franchise tag him. This would give him IIRC a 15 million dollar contract. Backus would be getting 5 million to switch positions. Raiola would be getting 4 million to back up Nagy. Peterman would be getting over 2 million to back up Sims. Cherilus signs a multimillion dollar deal to be a backup? |

Since it is the Dolphins fans saying they would take a 2d rounder for him and not the front office, I don't put much stock in that. While he is still one of the better LTs in the game, He is a 7-year veteran. If we were a LT away from making a serious playoff-super bowl run it might be worthwhile but we are not in that position.
As far as Cliff Avril goes, I don't see him signing a new contract just to facilitate a trade when he is going to be an UFA. |

Uh, yeah.
Raoila and Peterman can be cut no penalties. Goz wouldn't have to come back. Only problem would be the contract so he doesn't play on the tag. _________________ I <3 Kate Upton and Ezekiel Ansah, just FYI

Yeah, I'd bring him in for a 2nd round draft pick EASILY. Idk what to do with Backus for a year but who cares?
Long-Sims-???-Reiff-Backus wouldn't be too terrible. You could even put Dominic Ravioli back in C and I think we'd be ok. |

Plus I'm pretty excited to see what we have in Reiff. Given Long's decline I'd much rather develop Reiff. _________________ AAL: DeAndre Levy 31 Tackles

So you don't trade for him because a journalist expressed in an opinion piece that he may only be top 5 LT now and not the best? How easy do you think it would be to remain the best at a position where the only way to judge their performance is by the eye test?
Yes, if for some unlikely circumstance Jake Long becomes available, you absolutely make a trade for him. _________________

I am old friends with a girl that dated Long in high school. She's fugly. Jake Long is a fugly chubby chaser. I want nothing to do with that. Pass. _________________

[quote="FootballPhreak"][quote="WillParks"]This is why we don't make the trade:

If you read the article it says he isn't even one of the best LTs in his division anymore. Is Jake Long still one of the top 5 LTs in the NFL at this point? Probably not. |

If you read the article, a JOURNALIST offers the opinion with TWO examples of players that MAY be better than Long. So, even in his opinion, Long is likely a top 5 LT, and that is from a guy trying to bag on him and really has no more trustworthiness on the subject than you or I. _________________

I think the value of LT is vastly over rated. Teams just move the blitzed around to exploit the weak part of the line anyway. _________________
