its true, we have 0 pride. If we had pride you wouldn't come out and roll over. Kansas City has pride. They came out and fought the Broncos this week, they could have just gave up and take it but they had pride in their team. Hell they have pride in themselves. We just dont have it _________________

Many of us feared the team would lack leadership once Dawk was let go. Many of us were against letting him go not because of his ability on the field but because he bled green and held everyone accountable and had that sort of "we will punch you in the mouth even if we're down" mentality.
Our veterans bleed a different kind of green.
None of them bleed green because none of them were drafted here and inherited that sort of mentality. Look at a guy like Shady who instantly hated the Giants the moment he got here. If he were a free agent it'd be different.
That's why the 'leadership' expectations were a bit unfair for Demeco Ryans too. We all wanted him to be the next Dawkins, but he was traded for, it must feel queer stepping into the locker room on a team full of guys you've never played with and who had been there for years and announcing that you're the next sheriff in town.
You only get that kind of respect from tenure.
I'm all for not just rebuilding, but reconstruction. Reconstruct this team from the inside out. We poured concrete on top of wood and wondered why the house didn't hold up. _________________

Phire that was an excellent metaphor about concrete over wood.....we pulled a Washington Redskins and went all in with free agency and it cost us.
Back in the late 90s that team was built through the draft and had bleed green players who would go down swinging and hurt you if you didnt play them tough. Those teams gained that reputation.
This Eagles team has no identity or pride due to the fact they are a patchwork team. |

It all goes back to the end of the McNabb era + 'youth movement'.
We purged EVERYONE over 30 and went into "rebuilding".
Michael Vick emerged, had an all-pro season, and our organization saw a team that could "win now". They thought there was a window of opportunity. And a majority of fans thought that too. And why not? We were all enchanted by the miracle at the New Meadowlands.
But what we had was the youngest roster in the NFL (except maybe Tampa). We tried to fill the gaps from the youth movement.
Instead we became the Redskins. _________________

| EXACTLY, now I am not saying its all the front office's fault but every Eagles fan has to admit that we were "rallying around the flag" and enjoying bringing big name high priced free agents in. |

| The coaching philosophy is more to blame. If you install finesse techniques and follow it up with predictable playcalling, you have to fail. |

Indeed.
Getting rid of all of the experienced leaders in a short space of time lead to a void in leadership.
Normally you'd expect your QB to step up, but Vick was just refinding his feet. _________________

We need a team that bled green like the 80s/90s. _________________

| I agree here...nobody is a leader right now on this team. Nobodo cares thats why we suck so bad. Outside of our offensive line....we have talent on this football team but just no heart or pride and you CANT coach that. |

I miss Runyan. He would have threatened physical violence on our players for underperforming. _________________

Brian Dawkins cried when he left Philadelphia. Jeremiah Trotter said if you cut him he'd "bleed green". Quintin Mikell cried when we lost to the Packers because he knew it was his last game as an Eagle. Jamaal Jackson still watches the Eagles and is waiting for the phone call that says "Hey Jamaal, we want you back". We lost too many heart and soul types too quickly when we rebuilt. We shouldn't have let ALL of the culture carriers go. _________________
