2007 offense for season - 36.8125 PPG.
2007 offense through 11 games - 40.1818 PPG
2012 offense through 11 games - 37.0000 PPG
The biggest thing is as we all know, the offense really started to slow down a lot towards the end of the year. This year our offense is trending in the opposite direction, largely due to the consistency that our running game gives us.
2012 rushing YPG - 142.9
2007 rushing YPG - 115.6
2012 passing YPG - 287.3
2007 passing YPG - 295.7
During 2007's run of dominance we were also largely healthy for the majority of the season.
This year we haven't really been healthy since q2 of the first game. Between Edelman, Hernandez, Gronkowski, Welker, Lloyd, Mankins, Connolly, Vollmer, we really have been doing this at 80% or less.
So can they do it? Can this team claim the title of GOAT offense? _________________

| Nah 07 is much better and if they want the record they're going to have to score a ton the next few weeks on HOU and SF because I doubt they play hard the last week unless a bye is on the line. |

Baring losing to both the texans and niners (and that would likely mean record is out of reach anyways). A bye is almost definitely going to be on the line.
That being said, I am of the opinion this offense has already proven to be better simply because of the rushing attack. We aren't at full strength and scoring at will because we can run the ball finally. The 07 rushing attack was a complete joke and it left us one dimensional. _________________

Are those scoring marks truly offensive scoring, or total scoring? Maybe it's overreaction based on the 5 TDs in the last 2 games, but I think this year's offense is getting more help than the 2007 offense. _________________ Shut up, NBT |

| That 07 team could truly do whatever it wanted in the passing game. This team is more well rounded but I doubt we put 30+ on both HOU and SF. |

This.
You need to separate out the offensive PPG from the overall PPG. |

The scoring record is just extra gravy, and doesn't necessarily reflect how good the offenses are. That's why the gsot rams with Faulk have a fair argument against the 2007 patriots. Also you can't really separate because those are possessions which we may have scored any ways. You can't say if they would or would not which is why the nfl includes it.
We also started off really slow. This offense now, even without gronk is playing much better than at the start of the year. We have a dominat offense that even on off nights where we are missing key players, can score 30 points. We can pass for 400 or run for 200. That balance and reliability is huge. Can you imagine us scoring 30 in 2007 if we lost moss, and lost light and Mankins? I can't. We struggled to score 30 even with them at the end of the year.
2007 had a massive weakness. 2012 doesn't have any weakness. _________________

2012 offense is more balanced, but 2007 is still better. _________________

The jets better than anyone not including the giants does a great job flooding the middle ofthe field and challenging us to get it deep. Tonight we did that even without gronkowski.
Deep threat is not an issue. If we can churn out first downs, it doesn't matter if we have a deep threat. _________________

I think it all comes down to what you hold more valuable...
The passing game in 07 was better than the passing game in 12
and
The running game in 12 is better than the running game in 07
Which difference do you think is greater/more important.
I honestly would take this offense over the 07 offense in the playoffs any day. The balance it has is fantastic and not being so one dimensional could have won those last 2 superbowls. _________________

I feel this is not serious, no? Super bowl already forgotten? wont always be so easy to just "churn out first downs" when teams dare you to beat em deep and one cannot do it _________________

The 2012 rushing game isn't even the best this season. This offense is not the GOAT. _________________

I must have missed the great deep threats they had in 2001 |
