Maybe not Pro Bowl caliber players, but some guys who are starting to become good players - Stafford is the franchise QB of the Lions, Andre Smith is developing into a quality LT, DHB has been quietly turning into a solid WR for the Raiders, Monroe is the best OL on the Jags front, Raji was an integral part for the Packers SB run two seasons ago, Crabtree is developing into the #1 WR the 49ers were expecting...
This class took longer than we've been accustomed to, but it's starting to take form. |
Smith doesn't play LT, he's a RT. A solid WR isn't worthy of the 7th pick. You could do worse, but he should be a lot better. _________________

With that said, I sincerely believe Roger Goodell was a huge part as to why Curry busted. He was actually looking as good as advertised for the first third of the season, but he was fined for hitting too hard a couple of times and he turned soft. From that point on he appeared to always be thinking twice about hitting someone. Not the entire reason for his awful instincts however.
Curry was fined in 3 of his first 4 games and said this after the third fine:
| Quote: | | I think I have taken one step out of my game as far as the whistle goes. I like to play to or through the whistle, but I guess playing through the whistle gets you dings in your pockets. |
|
That seems to be one of the reasons he was cut. He had 2 personal fouls for late hits in his first game back from injury. But honestly, he was doing alright last year. He's just a 2 down LB since he's pretty awful in coverage but he's definitely worthy of a NFL roster spot. For what the Seahawks used on him, i totally understand how he isn't worth it though. _________________

I honestly don't see Curry's career ever resurrecting in the NFL.
Aside from his low IQ, poor instinct play, he has a degenerative knee condition that is only going to get worse & worse over time. It's possible Seattle knew that, and it became more visible when he arrived in Oakland.
The only positive out of him is his athleticism (now questionable with the knee) and his energy/passion on the field (which is useless considering how much of a bonehead he is).
I wish him well, but I wouldn't get my hopes up if your team picks him up. _________________

The 1 thing that can't be predicted or accounted for are injuries.
These things can derail a promising career in a heartbeat. _________________ If I Don't Know Nothing Else I Know Football |

Curry continues to be a disappointment. I remember thinking he was going to be a star back in 2009 when he was drafted. Be interesting to see if another team picks him up. _________________ Hey there, Blimpy Boy, flying through the sky so fancy.. free.. |

My issue is that you don't select a freakin' linebacker unless he's going to play the middle with a top 12 pick. They usually never pan out. Only one in recent history I can think of is Von Miller and that's because, espite what people say, he's essentially a 3-4 Rush LB. _________________

Chicago has a history of going for players drafted high that fail in there current situation...especially as of late. It's going to take the right scheme/coaches if he is going to have any shot at resurrecting his career. I do think the T2 Defense with Marinelli would be his best fit. _________________

I think his best fit is TED in the 3-4. _________________
