Preparing to be Disappointed in Free Agency

Building a team through free agency is never a good idea. Or even using it to find starters because you are often in a bidding war and end up over paying anyways. I prefer my team to use FA to add depth or vet experience to certain weaknesses.

I would be fine with King Dunlap, Matt Slauson and maybe Brandon Myers/Delanie Walker while resigning our own guys. The draft would be wide open at that point.

I just don't see any evidence that we are going to go crazy in free agency.

We have not even started to make moves to get more cap space or to bring back guys.

We will sign a major free agent and his name is Henry Melton.

And suddenly that "plentiful LT market" is drying up. Not surprising.

It would have been a miracle if Albert would have hit free agency.

Thats your evidence against it? Come on Windy.....we have until Saturday to even start talking to players.Next Tuesday is when we can sign them. I think we all need to settle down and stop assuming what Emery is going to do based on very little evidence.

not really, it's just Albert. Everyone else is still going to be available unless they sign long term deals in the next few days. I also have some suspicion that KC tagged Albert w/ the intent of trading him.

I'll believe the Bears are going to bring in a LT when I see it.

Would anyone be willing to trade our 2nd round pick for Albert?

I think he could be had for a 3rd (which we don't have), but provided you work out a long term deal, yes I would trade our 2nd for him.

Only if I strike out on Vollmer and others.

Our draft picks are precious commodities and I would hate to move one and give 50 million dollars away.

The 50 million dollars is going to be tough.

4. Geoff Schwartz
5. Donald Thomas
6. Matt Slauson
7. Ramon Foster

These 4 are all strong interior pass blockers with starting experience and would secure LG for the Bears next season.
