|
| Quote: | NFL suspended Falcons G/C Joe Hawley four games for violating the league's policy against performance-enhancing substances.
The specifics on Hawley's suspension are unclear, but he will be ineligible to play in games until Week 16. Hawley is an interior "swing" lineman, backing up at both guard and center. He's only played 22 snaps of offense this year. |
From Rotoworld.
Great. Just what we needed. _________________ "John Wayne and Rio Lobo are coming up next, just as soon as Jeffrey Leonard hits into a 6-4-3." (CRACK!) "Six...four...three!" -- Skip Caray |

ATL's next 4 games:
@ Tampa Bay
New Orleans
@ Carolina
New York Giants
3 division games and the reigning super bowl champs that beat us last year.
Thanks Joe. |

| Quote: | UPDATE: 5:16 p.m. ET: Hawley’s agent, Kevin Omell, has issued a statement, via the NFLPA. It reads, as follows:
“In September, Joe Hawley made a mistake by taking an Adderall pill. He did not file the paperwork to apply for an exemption for this medication, and now understands that the NFL/NFLPA drug policies have strict rules. |

I liked him a bit, but I never saw him as a long-term starter. Oh well. He's probably done when his contract is done now, no? _________________

I know the falcon filter is tough but I doubt they cut him unless he is a pure garbage player.
But who do you guys will take over for him as the 7th lineman? |

I didn't say cut him. I said we will likely not re-sign him after his contract is up. _________________

That's no excuse in my eyes. Not sure about TD and co, but if you don't know the rules it'll bite you in the butt eventually.
Anyways, even if he stays I don't like him as a long term starter. Never have. _________________

Adderall is allowed with a waiver. Joe didn't have the waiver put in there. nothing to see here. _________________

Thanks Joe. |
And he has only seen 22 snaps all year. Like I said, nothing to see here.

A slight touch of naivety here.
There's a reason why EVERY player who has violated the substance abuse policy this year has claimed it was for adderall. And yet despite all the publicity in the news media, players still don't seem to be aware that all they need to avoid a ban is submit a waiver.
Please remember that the NFL is not allowed to reveal what substance was found, only the player and his agent. I'm impressed that the PR spin is working still, but I think we need to be honest about it. _________________

except when you speak with the player's mom as part of your reporting duties, (which I have) you find out that he's been on adderall his whole life and missed the deadline for the waiver this season. And yes, he's been prescribed it. _________________
