Our Buffalo Bills can never make things easy, can they? Through 10 games on our schedule, we currently sit at 4-6, and in the 11th playoff position in the AFC. Figured I would start this thread to keep track of our playoff hopes/chances, as bleak as they may seem.
Before I continue, I just want to say that it seems every year, we're talking about the "what if's" behind a few close losses we had. This year is no different, as we were completely embarrassed in the second half at home against the Patriots, blew a lead against Tennessee, couldn't turn drives into touchdowns while holding an explosive offensive attack to 21 points, and let one slip out of our hands on the road against the Pats. Even just ONE of those games going our way would make our chances so much more plausible than they are at the moment, but one thing we have going for us for the rest of this year is our schedule. Of the teams "In the hunt", or currently sitting in wildcard positions, the NY Jets have the "easiest" remaining schedule based on opponent record (remaining opponents are 24-36). However, the Bills are right behind them in this aspect, with a schedule just as "easy", as their remaining opponents are 24-35-1. Pretty simple for us, we must win out, and let the rest take care of itself.
For the most part, the worst portion of our schedule is behind us. We all knew that this schedule was a bit hard on us to begin the year, and we didn't come out of that tough stretch in the best shape either. However, of our remaining 6 games, 4 of them are at home (3.5 technically, because Toronto is basically a neutral site). IMO, the biggest tests we have left are Indy and Seattle. But this is the NFL, and no game can be overlooked or dismissed. While I feel we could go on a run, all of this is moot if we don't take care of business against the Colts.
Anyway, here is a current look at the AFC Playoff Scenario.
Division Leaders
*1. * - 11-1
2. - 9-3
3. * - 9-3
4. * - 9-3

In The Hunt

If we can beat Indy on the road, we have the next two games at home agaisnt STL and JAX.
All 3 are winable games. Imagine if we will the next 3 and we're 7-6. We would need some help but as bleak as they seem now, the playoffs are still in sight. _________________

We MUST figure out a way to keep the ball out of Reggie's hands. Indy is the 8th best passing attack in the league, and a big part of that is due to #87. We have to get in Luck's grill as much as possible. Indy is 17th in sacks allowed, and we're 16th in sacks. It's going to be a good match-up. Luck is good throwing on the run too, so we can't be too soft in coverage or we'll be in trouble. _________________

FWIW
Leftwich is going to be out a while, so it may be Charlie Batch getting the start for Pittsburgh. _________________

I hate so much that this happens every year. Invariably the Bills will miss out on both the playoffs and a top draft pick. _________________

i have given up on the whole loose to get a better pick game. i don't care if we go 7-9 at least we get some good wins. the think about the draft is no matter what pick you have there is no guarantee we get the guy you want. So why root to loose when the GM could blow the pick anyway. just root to win, it's much easier. _________________

It has happened so much I just started referring to it a few years back as "Draft Purgatory" never good enough to get to the playoffs, never bad enough to draft a real franchise kind of guy. _________________
