Okay, there is NO WAY that there is this much Amphetamine use (that's what adderal is) in the NFL. I think it's becoming more and more obvious that players are just saying it's Addy's in order to prevent public condemnation and embarrassment for using something else.
Football wise, it hurts them, but Wright has been bad all season hasn't he?

Maybe it's not actually Adderall? The NFL doesn't disclose what the drug was, that's up to the player or agent.

I remember someone saying this a few weeks ago when someone else was getting suspended for "adderall". I guess they all think that's their way of not looking bad but who's really dumb enough to think every NFL player that gets suspended for failing a drug test is using adderall? Some might actually be, but every one of em? Highly doubt it...

that's not the point though. it's that adderal is not on their list of approved substances. if they were able to get a legal prescription for using it for medical uses, then that would be different. if you actually are prescribed to adderall by your doctor, i'm pretty sure that they would be able to still use the adderall and not have it affect their drug test. on top of everything... Talib who is on their same team got suspended because of the exact same thing.. you would have thought that because of that he was smart enough to NOT take it.

1) Never underestimate the lengths guys will go to get an edge. Amphetamine use was commonly reported in the NFL's early days through the 80's. It could well be that reporting of the issue is down because the focus has shifted to other ped's and plenty of guys still are using them for a boost.
2) That said, I do think you're right in that Adderall's become a convenient scapegoat. A player would rather look dumb than like an out and out cheater, and getting busted for Adderall doesn't carry near the stigma that 'roids/other ped's do. |
