Well, I felt like doing a mock, I am sure many things wil change by draft day but this is what I think we should do at the moment. I am assuming we draft in the mid to late teens.
Round 1 - Sam Montgomery, DE LSU
I think Avril is gone unless he signs at a discount. I think KVB has a chance to be cut. I also think we bring back Lo-Jack and Willie Young. That being said, DE is one of our biggest needs next offseason. Montgomery is solid against both the pass and run and will bolster the D Line.
Round 2 - Eric Reid, S LSU
Even if we bring Delmas back, saftey is a need. Reid has fallen in the rankings due to inconsistant play this year but he has playmaking ability like Ed Reed.
Round 3 - Robert Lester, S Alabama
This shows I dont think Delmas comes back. Someone overpays and he chases the paycheck. A new saftey duo of Reid and Lester will bolster the back end of our defense. Our young CB's will improve in the offseason and we will have a very good young secondary.
Round 5 - Braden Hansen, C/OG BYU
Versatile interior player. We definitely need young depth on the line because I really don't see a lot of changes coming to the starting rotation.
Round 6 - Philip Lutzenkirchen, TE Auburn
He was hurt this year so his stock slips. He is a Tony Scheffler type TE which would be a cheaper and decent replacment for Heller. Also can see if he can step up into Tony's role after his contract is up.
Round 7 - LaAdrian Waddle, OT - Texas Tech
More depth for the line. Waddle is versatile and could play all 5 positions on the line if needed.
Depth Chart:
QB Matt Stafford, Shaun Hill, Kellen Moore
RB Mikel Leshoure, Joique Bell, Kevin Smith
WR Calvin Johnson, Ryan Broyles, Titus Young, Nate Burelson, Free Agent
TE Brandon Pettigrew, Tony Scheffler, Philip Lutzenkirchen
LT Riley Reiff, Jeff Backus
LG Rob Sims, Braden Hansen
C Dominic Raiola, Braden Hansen
RG Jeff Backus, LaAdrian Waddle
RT Gosder Cherilus, LaAdrian Waddle
DE Sam Montgomery, Willie Young
DT Ndamukong Suh, Corey Williams
DT Nick Fairley, Free Agent
DE Lawrence Jackson, Free Agent/KVB
OLB Travis Lewis, Carmen Messina
MLB Stephen Tulloch, Ashlee Palmer
OLB Deandre Levy, Tahir Whitehead
CB Chris Houston, Chris Greenwood, Drayton Florence
CB Bill Bentley, Jonte Green
S Eric Reid, John Wendling
S Robert Lester, Eric Coleman _________________

I'd love Montgomery, Reid, and Lester. Unfortunately Reid will probably go in the 1st, Lester should go 2nd and Sam Montgomery should go top 5-10. Those are pretty fortunate rankings. I love it though. _________________ Kate Upton for sexy President!!!

They were earlier this season. Since, other DE's such as Demontre Moore and bjorn Werner have moved up and Montgomery has been in the 10-20 range.
Reid has slowly been dropping and I have seen him rated from 1st to third saftey drafted and anywhere from late 1st to late 2nd.
Lester as well is a 3rd in most mocks and rankings I have seen. _________________

I really like Elam too. I think he has moved ahead of Reid as has Vaccarro. So thats why I have Reid falling to the mid second. _________________

I still feel this way after the GB game. Our safeties really suck. We have enough playmakers on offense, we just need improved play calling. _________________

I think improving our safety positions will greatly improve our defense. I approve this mock. _________________ 11 AAL: Ryan Donahue

I'd be happy, although you can keep Hansen. I'd like Warmack to solidify our interior as well with our top selection. _________________ Are you getting Ziggy with it? |

Obviously would love 1st 3 picks but dont think its overly realistic.
My main point in this response is giving you kudos for the Lutzenoaeieignj pick since it is being overlooked. Could have a very valuable role on this team. _________________

The realism is all up in the air at this point. I didn't think it would be real to get either Reid or Montgomery even in the first. Both have dropped and our record continues to get worse. Many sites have other Safties surpassing these two so it easily could happen. Last year if you told me in November that we passed on Jon Martin, Peter Konz, Alfonzo Dennard, and so on, I would say that you are talking about the first round and we could have had any in the second. So when a player is rated late first to early second or 2-3, I could easily see them fall to these spots.
As for Lutz, I think we need to add some more youth at TE and he has a lot of Scheffler like qualities. I would be pumped if we can land him in the draft. _________________

Love the mock but I don't think Reid is there in the 2nd, but crazier things have happened. _________________
