Yep. Megatron gets a severe concussion thats going to effect him for the rest of his life he needs to walk away.

Well lets say its an elite talent-Revis type CB or Sanders type RB and they have only played 1 or 2 years but you know they are destined for great things. Once in a lifetime talent. Yet they suffer a devastating concussion.
Would you want them to continue on with their careers or walk away from it all? |

Just curious, where do you rank Best among your best players? I'm curious as to where you have him. I honestly have no idea, and this is in no way a loaded question.

I would feel more for the player than the fact I didn't get to see him anymore. Football is not worth risking long term health. Especially if he's a great player that's been played reasonably well. If he still wanted to be around the game, it's still possible to coach or something along that level. There's no shame in wanting to have a normal life with a family and not be a slightly more aware vegetable.

In terms of raw talent, he's probably top 10 on that team. Right below the elite level.
Tier 1 players = Megatron, Stafford, Suh.
Tier 2 players = Best, Fairley, Pettigrew, LeShoure, Young, Delmas.

100% disagree.
Players retire in the middle of their contracts all the time. Just because the doctors clear him doesn't mean they know what the long term effects are. If any player feels the potential drawback is no longer outbalanced by the benefits, I fully support them walking away.

If Reggie Wayne's career ended because of an injury, I'd feel sad that he had to go out that way, but I'd understand, and celebrate his career.
If Luck went out like that, I'd be devastated. Such a promising career cut short...

Security contractors in iraq and afganistan dont even get the choice and they dont just risk injury they risk their lives. Theirs no i retire or quit button for those security contractors. Us armed forces dont get choices after then sign a contract they have to serve their contract or else they get dishonorably discharge and some go to prison if they just decide to leave war(where they can be killed).
Why should millionaire athletes be any different? |

yes it is, and they get paid millions. If they sign a contract and they are healthy to play they should fulfill the contract. |
