So I recently went to BestBuy with my wife and bought a LG 55" bad mamajama of a television. I bought it in the town where we are moving to, and had to return to the current city we live in (500 miles) the following day.
I let the salesman know that I wasn't going to be able to pick it up the following day, and that my brother who I had given the receipt, would be coming into pick it up.
On my way home from our new city, I get a phone call from my brother asking if I had purchased a Boston Akoustic sound bar valued at roughly $200. I said no I did not why? He replied that the guy who had read the receipt had looked at the receipt, told him he would be right back with the TV. He waited. The kid then came out with the receipt and TV and said hang on, I will go get your sound bar. Brother unsure of what exactly I had purchased, waited again, and then the kid brought out the sound bar. He then ushered my brother with both goods out to his truck and helped load them.
On the one hand, I really want this sound bar. And to be fair he did lookat the receipt.
On the other hand I feel like its wrong to keep something I did not pay for.
Would you return it? _________________

Are you sure there wasn't a deal going on? Buy a 55" bad mamajama and get a sound bar for free? I'd call the store and coyly ask, "My friend bought a TV there and got a free sound bar. Is that deal still going on?"
If not, I would then call back and explain the situation to the manager. See what he/she says. Offer to return it. You never know. _________________

No I know full well that that was not a deal going on. The deal was select LG TVs and you get a free copy of COD Black ops 2, a year of netflix with the TV. That was the deal. _________________

Trade COD and Netflix for the sound bar. _________________

A $200 sound bar is too much for me just to wash my hands of...
If it was a $15 DVD, or something relatively harmless to a chain's bottom line/inventory then I wouldn't bother... _________________

Bingo. It's a nice add on, but given that items like that are killer to a store's P/L, I would call and advise of the mistake and offer to return it ASAP.
Your call, but I'd do that. _________________

Keep it...don't spit in the face of the universe giving you a win.
Just enjoy the soundbar...use some of the money you saved to take your wife out for a nice meal or something...might make you feel better about it. Me maybe use the rest at (another) bestbuy.
I worked at Circuit City and all that stuff is handled, a lot of stuff gets lost in the shuffle. If you opened it then you really might as well keep it regardless how you feel because they won't sell it back on the floor in most cases. _________________

I'd return it. For all you know they have to pay for it because it went missing. _________________

Call Best Buy and tell them to pick a charity. Donate $200 to said charity. _________________
