To everyone saying "Do it for the kid that's probably going to lose his job", just remember, that kid looked at the reciept and stll gave him the sound bar. It's not OP's fault the kid made that mistake (an easily avoidable one IMO). Personally, I'd keep it. _________________

I like how the majority of the thought out responses in the this thread actually say to return the sound bar, but if you look at the poll, twice as many people say keep it as opposed to returning it. _________________

I'd at least call them. May have been a mistake, and they won't accept it either way, but at least call them and see what happened. _________________

If the kid that gave you the sound bar was too incompetent to read a receipt properly, then I'd keep it. _________________

I'd have to return it personally. Or at least call about it. _________________

Id probably call and talk to the manager about it. I would really want to keep it, but id atleast attempt to right the mistake. _________________

Keep it. I worked at a -'s sporting goods. This type of stuff goes unnoticed. Employee theft was extremely rampant (me included). I'm going to include a lit of stuff I've known people have personally taken or I have from the store:
Hockey Jerseys
Underarmour
Garmin GPS
Golf Clubs/Balls
Fat Heads (small size)
Batting/Football gloves
Socks
Other clothing items
Shoe insoles
Raquetballs
Sneakers
Mountain Bikes (whole bikes as well as tires, seats, bike computers, etc)
Baseball gloves
Fishing lures
Skull Candy Headphones
Candy/Soda
These stores have a large budget for this type of stuff, as well as products getting damaged too. It was called Shrink. I think 3% of everything in the store gets accounted under shrink. 3% might not seem like a lot, but at any given time, a store can have over 250K worth of product in it. _________________

When people return stuff like this, it irritates me so much.

Regardless of how you try to slice it, its tantamount to stealing if you dont return it. _________________

Keep it.
I love the people saying "if it was only a $15 dvd" etc. etc. I would keep it, but since it's a $200 sound bar I would give it back.
Because now pretend those same people went to the deli and paid 1$ for a drink, if they now somehow received $15 in extra stuff on accident... they would give it back (even though in the previous scenario they thought it was fine to keep an extra $15 item when you also didn't pay for it).
In the same scenario, if you bought a $500,000 house and the owners accidentally only charged you $499,985 would you feel any guilt? Probably not.
It's all in relation. IMO if you would keep the $15 in any of these scenarios (all of which they are not rightfully yours) you keep it in all of them. Because if you're getting free money, it's free money, you shouldn't feel more or less guilt based on the price of the item you're buying. Instead people feel like in situations like the deli scenario, you're stealing $15... but in the house scenario no one would care the least bit, because... well, it's only $15.
Was this just a nonsense rant to everyone else that made no sense? I have a feeling it was, haha.
EDIT: I read a similar study to this one time (not regarding to stealing, but how we put everything into relation). When people were buying a small item (e.g. a $15 pillow) and someone online said you could get the same pillow for $6 down the block, about 99%+ of the people left. However they then tried this with people buying more expensive items (e.g. a $2500 shed), only about 1-2% of people iirc would go down the block to save the same 9$ that was offered in the first scenario. _________________ clowney.

When a soulless bastard like fret the lawyer and a below-bottom-of-the-barrel dwelling cretin and Iowan like sabo are both against something morally dubious, you know it has to be bad. Take it back. _________________
