Gronk: 37 tds in first 42 games
Randy Moss and Jerry Rice: 36 TDs in first 42 games

Unlike Rice and Gronk, Moss played with 4 different, quite average too, quarterbacks over that period. Rice had 40 td's through 3 seasons, Moss had 43. Gronk needs 16 this year to tie, 17 to win.

If we want to go all out, Gronk needs 9 more TDs to match Barry Sanders' 47 total (non-passing) TDs in his first three seasons

never mind. 
Anyway, this was the third time a Patriot has had a receiving TD and a punt return TD in the same game. All three have been against the Colts.
