so Peterson has been in South Dakota for two days with an excused absence to deal with "a personal family matter."

reports from the town he was spotted in say there is a child in critical condition who was abused by a man who's been arrested with the last name Patterson.

SodakViking, we need updates!!

Apparently Adrian Peterson's son is in critical condition. The Patterson guy has been dating the child's mother, and is a suspect in a possible child abuse case:

I'm literally sick to my stomach, this is just horrible. Prayers are with them at this time.

That is just terrible. I can't fathom what would compel someone to physically abuse an infant. I really pray that his son will recover. Can't imagine what is going through Adrian's head right now.

Thanks for picking up the thread while I was traveling, Purplexing. Much obliged. La Raymunda and I just got back from our trip last night, so I'll pick things up again with this week's game against Carolina. (Edited: I had the Giants here first - had the schedule messed up.)

BTW, this pic I took of an asura (demon) on the bridge leading through the South Gate into Angkor Thom in Cambodia is how I felt after the Vikes lost to Cleveland.

Then we beat the Steelers and signed Josh Freeman and I was all like this Cambodian kid at Banteay Srei:

Hope for the future! Skol Vikes!

I am on my way to Singapore, Some Reap, Bangkok and Phuket today! I am seriously looking forward to seeing Angkor Wat!

You'll love it! Looking forward to hearing some stories and to seeing some pics!

I go away to Southeast Asia and the Vikings lose to the Browns, then go 2-0 against the Steelers and the Bye Week. I return from a great trip with souvenir chopsticks and some groovy pics and the Vikings lay a stinker in the Dome against the Panthers. I should have stayed in Hanoi.

Carolina had two really long drives in the first half, you can fault the defense for those ten carries. Same story in the second, the defense couldn't stop them.

Sure, that contributed. But he broke a long one for 30+ yards and we stop running right after that.

We were in 4th down territory, have 2nd and 1, and we don't run once, but throw on all 3 downs.

I just think that isn't smart football.

Plus, even though the defense never really did stop Carolina, running the ball and eating up some time to let the defense rest, could have helped the defense potentially stop* the Panthers.

*I realize that is all hypothetical and never would have happen, but theoretically if the defense were good
