Ok name one person on this offense that has been consistent on this team. Its ok I will wait. You could make a case for Witten but to start the season wasnt too good, I know his injury didnt help but really other then Witten nobody on this team has been consistent, You really think Robinson scored 11 TDs last year by running perfect routes? Heck most of his TDs came on Romo scrambling and Robinson running around like back yard football.

Free has been consistent - as has Burningadeuce. I think Miles minus a drop has been consistent. And yes, Robinson ran great routes and wasn't late on his cut or 5yds past his cut point. He was producing when Dez was injured and when Miles was injured

I'm guessing you mean Free has been consistently inconsistent and that Burningadeuce has been consistently awful...

I did Very Happy

Ok, my sarcasm meter was still waking up earlier so I'm glad I picked up on that one,

I would certainly hope that midway through his 3rd year in the league, that Dez is almost 100% in terms of understanding the game. Then again, I would hope that a rookie would be at the same spot towards the end of his first year.

People have always stated that WR's have one of the steepest learning curves from college to NFL. Its why it is so rare for guys to have consistent success through out their first 3 years in the league.

Year 3 is supposed to be when they put it all together, though. There's late bloomers but that's the general rule.

Do you think 80 catches, 1,048 yards, and 5 TDs is under-producing for a 3rd year wideout? Because thats what he is on pace for. Granted, the 5 TDs needs to be higher, but its not like he is the only offensive player struggle scoring TDs. And I have a strong feeling he'll end up with more than 5 TDs.

That's why you watch the games. 8 catches for 105 yards (vs. CHI) looks like a nice performance, sure. Except that he dropped 3 passes, had a penalty, and was responsible for a Tillman pick-six. 5 catches for 110 yards (vs. NYG) looks great... except that he lost a fumble, may have been partially at fault for another Romo pick, and disastrously misplaced his fingers on the penultimate play. Even against Baltimore he dropped a two-point conversion and was partially at fault for the disaster that was the last 30 seconds of that game. And he hasn't done much otherwise.

There's been more negatives than positives with him this year, and it's really not that hard to see if you look past the numbers. It's not that he should catch every pass, average 15 YPC, score a TD every game. It's that lots of things go wrong when he's prominently featured in the game plan.

And yeah, 1000 yards and single digit TDs is underperforming for one of the 5 most gifted receivers in football.

I can't deny the other stuff but seriously? Your going to bash him for bracing himself for a fall? Its dumb luck that a half inch of his fingernail landed out of bounds. Give me a break.

I'm sorry, this is just plain wrong. Yes, he was b****ing and moaning at the ref after the play, but he was back at the line of scrimmage before Miles of Ogletree. Not his fault even a little.

What about the guy throwing him the ball? More positives or negatives this year so far? I realize he has had several inexcusable miscues this year that have cost the team dearly. My point however, is that so has the Quarterback.

You strangely forgot to mention the 80 catches...is that still underperforming for the 3rd most targeted WR on the team?

Nearly all of those passes are short, aren't they? And if it's fair to expect more touchdowns then it's also fair to expect less 13 catch games.

Romo's definitely had problems, but why do people think that player struggles can't be independent of one another. It's quite possible that they've both had cringe-worthy mistakes.

I've homered Bryant since they drafted him. He's sucked this year

So has the offense as a whole (maybe aside from Witten).

Don't mean to dump on Dez, but if Robinson can pick it up mid season, and Dez is still working on after almost 3 years, Dez is either not diligent or smart enough .

I don't think it has anything to do with that. It was Robinsons' 5th year in the league when he came to Dallas. He is a veteran WR, who is 27 years old. I'm not sure what you mean by "pick it up" it's not a special Dallas scheme he is talking about. It's precision route running. It's not trying to do to much. It's running your route the way you are supposed to run it, and being on time with it. That means cutting out some of the fancy moves. That means if it is a 12 yard hitch, then you need to hitch at 12 not 14, even if you think you can get those extra 2. A concept that a lot of young WRs' have trouble executing. Robinson didn't pick anything up per say, he is just a precision route runner. That's his cup of tea. He doesn't have a whole lot else going for him, but he understands that if he hits his mark a good QB will find him. It may have taken him a while to realize that himself. After all, he is a 6 year vet who is 27 years old, and Dez is a 3rd year WR, who just turned 24 on the 4th of this month. Yet Dez has 2,079 yards and 18 TDs in his career compared to Robinsons' 2,110 yards and 15 TDs, Despite having 3 more seasons, and nearly 4 years of age on Dez.

Dez has a multitude of talent that Robinson has only dreamt about. If Dez will slow down, and not try to win the superbowl every play, do the small things, he will be better than Robinson ever was. He already has a more productive career, and I believe he is getting better at these things I've discussed. His numbers have gone up every year, including this one.

If you had just left it at Robinson has had more time to develop his route running than Dez, that would have been fine, as for the hundredth time I will say that I never said Robinson was a better receiver nor more talented than Dez, so please stop trying to argue against a point I am not making. I am just disappointed that Dez, with all his ability, is not more committed to his craft.

? That's where I did leave it...

I don't see where I'm arguing against a point you aren't making. You said something about Laurant picking it up as if it were a special scheme. I just said that Robinson is/was a better route runner, and that's where I left it.

True dat. I simply think that it's possible that they've all underperformed individually, as opposed to the prevailing idea that a few individual struggles have "caused" other players to underperform (and the follow-up chicken-egg blame game).
