Buck-C-- JPA is gonna be traded for more pitching or a left fielder |
Arencibia for Murphy makes sense for both teams, especially if we're moving Kinsler to LF.
We'd have to throw in a C level prospect but I'm down. |
Murphy is the better player, so I doubt that. |
Lol, where do I sign up?
Murphy is a solid player no doubt, but he's getting up there in age and he's in his last year of arbitration, while Arencibia is a 26 year old catcher with 20+ HR power and is making peanuts.
Idk why I'm like the only guy here who wants Arencibia, maybe it's because I caught a HR ball from him or the fact that he always destroys us.
But yeah, I'd do Murph for JP in a heartbeat. |
His OBP and defense are bad. He's a good backup, but dedinetely a 2nd division starter. _________________

I would want more for Arencibia tbh.. If were looking Texas way, the guys I would target would be Mike Olt (Solves 1B issue long term, with club control for long time) or Alexi Ogando ( 5th starter/BP)
For Olt (Arencibia)
For Ogando (Arencibia and Chad Jenkins or Deck McGuire) |

Exactly, JPA just isn't very good. _________________

Arencibia is good enough that Texas is zeroed in.. Perhaps that offer is weak, but let's not act like JPA is just isn't that good.
We have a expendable asset who is gonna fetch us something |

Something is the key word. Not something good is the end result.

Arencibia is not very good. |
His defense/game-calling suck, but he's still going to have value in a trade. He's a bottom 10 starter, but still a starter with power that some GM will think means he's worth trading for.
JPA drives me bonkers, so I have zero expectations. _________________

I'd hardly expect Arencibia to be the primary or only asset going the other way in any trade he's involved in. He has value, just not enough to seal any notable deals. In all likelihood, he can contribute to a multi-asset swap of some sort.
Nobody is banging Anthopoulos' door down for JP Arencibia, but lets not pretend like a perfectly decent offensive catcher would generate no interest from 29 organizations. _________________

savior! if he plays everyday he could have a surprisingly decent season down there...
If they trade LoMo and Nolasco that team is gonna be worse than the astros.
this is how the last week has made me feel

The guy has posted a WAR of 2.0 over 2 seasons. That's one win per season from a guy who supplies bad defense, which WAR can't currently quantify at the C position properly. It's not outlandish to say that JPA is close to replacement level if you factor in C defense.
His highest wRC+ has been 92. His career OBP is .275, highest is .282. He strikes out nearly 30% of the time, and has a 6.3% BB rate for his career.
JPA simply isn't good. Yes, he hits for some power. So does Miguel Olivo in the right enviroment. Take JPA out of the launching pad for righties in Toronto, and his counting numbers look a lot worse (HRs/RBIs). _________________
