Trent Murphy OLB for Stanford is getting it done for sure he is the current leader in tackles for loss, sacks and qb hurries for Stanford.
Murphy had big shoes to fill beating out Chase Thomas and Shayne Skov by being selected to the 12 finalist for the Butkus Award, Murphy is getting it done and setting the standards (in) partyinthebackfielded by leading the pack at Stanford.
Trent at 6’6” 265 pounds will be a good fit for either an OLB or the frame to put on 30 pounds and be a defensive end in the next level – he is a beast I wonder if he will come back for his 5th year our leave to the next level.
The Norte Dame Game Murphy rocked with 10 tackles 2 sacks and 4qb hurries on prime time. |

I have been wondering about this as well. He numbers are much better than Chase Thomas' but Thomas is considered a 1st or 2nd round pick.
Chase Thomas - 54 tackles, 10 TFL, 3.5 sacks 1 Int
Trent Murphy - 48 tackles, 16.5 TFL, 9.5 sacks, 1 Int
Also, I went to high school with Trent so it's pretty cool seeing him produce as well as he has. He has great size, production, and I am intrigued by his NFL potential.
I don't watch Stanford play so can someone tell me why Murphy is not considered as high of a pick as Thomas? _________________

Right now, I think he's likely a 3rd round pick...maybe a 2nd rounder with a strong off-season but I like him a lot as a developmental player. Appears to have both 4-3 DE and 3-4 OLB potential. Relentless with some developing pass rush moves. Possesses good but not great speed, quickness and power. Long body and long arms, good at getting them into passing lanes. Intelligent player with a great motor and good instincts.
Think he has a lot of potential if given the right DL Coach. Has that demeanor and the physical tools to be a really good DE. Doesn't have one elite attribute but seems to be good at everything and if he's able to master pass rush moves and hand use, he'll be hard to contain.
I'd love for him to end up on the Rams. _________________

| If the measurables check out, I could easily see Murphy rise into the 1-2 range by the time it's all said and done, ala Chandler Jones. |

He seems like somebody who would flourish as a SLB in Seattle's scheme (As would Chase Thomas) _________________

would be a good SLB and also a good 3-4 rush LB. I was watching Chase Thomas tape and Murphy stole the show from me. I really like Murphy as of right now I have him in the 3rd but that can obviously change.
He has the size and all the potential. Last year I fell in love with Chandler Jones and this year its Trent Murphy. Murphy just hasn't been as recognized as a name as Thomas. I think as the scouting process goes on teams will recognize him. He is going to make some 34 team very very happy. _________________

| I think he's gonna be chosen in the mid rounds (possibly higher), as a 4-3 DE. This kid could be one of the steals of the draft. Plays the run and the pass equally well and his speed off the edge is gonna be deadly. I actually believe he'd benefit from a move to 4-3 DE. |

This is a good year for 3-4 rush LB's, but I think Murphy's size sets him apart. He's big and can still make plays in space. Even in a deep class, that's rare. I see him shooting up the draft boards if he declares this year. |

Here is my only problem with having him in my second round...
1. Jarvis Jones-Georgia
2. Damontre Moore-Texas A&M
3. Barkevious Mingo-Louisiana State
4. Sam Montgomery-Louisiana State
5. Bjoern Warner-Florida State
6. Dion Jordan-Oregon
7. Anthony Barr-UCLA
8. Alex Okafor-Texas
9. Corey Lemonier-Auburn
10. Chase Thomas-Stanford
These are the 10 guys i have ahead of him. I mean i guess i could see all of these players and then him all going within the first two rounds, but it is very unlikely. I think he is a tremendous talent, but this draft is just so deep with pass rushers. |

I'm still not sold Lemonier goes that high. _________________

And? Even if that holds. Best case scenario is still bottom of the 2nd top of 3rd and that's if everything goes well _________________ The Dawgpounds new three headed monster!

Other than everyone 1-5, I think Murphy could go ahead of anyone 6-10 with the exception of Dion. Dions phsyical skills will vault him _________________

Does anyone if Murphy is going to graduate this year? I know eligibility wise he is a RS Junior.
I figure if is going to get his degree he will be more inclined to declare for the draft tan stay another year. _________________ The Dawgpounds new three headed monster!
