Falcons waived LE Ray Edwards.
Atlanta signed Edwards to a five-year, $27.5 million deal before the 2011 season after he recorded 16.5 sacks for the Vikings in the 2009-10 seasons. He was replaced in the starting lineup after the Week 7 bye. Edwards recorded just nine tackles and zero sacks in nine games this season after notching just 3.5 sacks in 2011. The Falcons will employ a rotation led by Kroy Biermann. Edwards, 28 on New Year's Day 2013, should be able to find work on a much lighter contract. The signing was a rare mistake by GM Thomas Dimitroff with Edwards ending up being a colossal bust.

What do you think of the Lions taking a chance on Edwards? i remeber a few yrs ago. some ppl on the forum were talking about going after him, esp if Cliff has to miss any time? should we take a flyer on him? |

| Lol, Half of the forum called this signing bad when it happend. Not surprized but I'd bring him in for depth if I felt there was a problem. |

Dude has no motivation and was a production of the talent around him in Minnesota. Doubt he would be motivated to be a depth player for us. Bad signing for ATL. Lets not repeat history. _________________ AAL: DeAndre Levy 31 Tackles

Yeah, highly doubt we pick him up, especially at that price. _________________ Football is love, love is life. |

Always thought he was a product of Minnesota's DL, at least in terms of the number of sacks he recorded. Didn't want anything to do with him then, and that opinion has just been reinforced over the last two seasons.
Not to mention this play, where he basically took it to an extreme to avoid a chip block and pulled a Gohan vs. Raditz flying headbutt against Stafford.

We run a DE friendly scheme, just plug him in and count the sacks! _________________

Avril is motivated. Edwards is like ridiculously unmotivated. Just a guy you dont want to be forced to root for. _________________
