The Vikings are btter against the run and we sack the QB more often. The Lions having a better dline is a myth. |
This. Nick Fairley is completely mediocre, Vanden Bosch is old and it shows, Cliff Avrill is good but not better than his peer Brian Robison, and Suh is overrated (if people are still saying he's a good DT). The Vikings d-line is better and it shows on paper and on the field. _________________

I look at Avril as the Lions version of Everson Griffen. Situational pass rusher at best right now. _________________

Exactly what I was thinking. I was checking the date of this thread to make sure it wasn't made at the beginning of the season or something. It was made right after the season sweep? (scratches head) |

While this while thread is dumb your assessment of Fairley is off. He was dominant and disruptive all game Sun. He was in backfield nearly every play. _________________

If I'm looking strictly at talent, on paper, and not considering records, this season's matchups, etc... I have to go with the Lions.
If asked who is the better team this year, I would have to go with the Vikings. But, if I consider all things, I'd say it's pretty close. I think the Vikings have overreached a little this year and the Lions have not played to their potential.
So much context....it's hard to pin these things down. _________________

I think it's pretty even. Lions are better at QB and receiver, Vikings are better in the secondary, at RB, and on ST. Everything else is pretty close... Oline, Dline, etc are a wash to me.
AP being AP + 2-0 vs my Lions this year, I'll have to say the Vikings ARE better, but on paper they're about the same. _________________

QB: Lions
RB: Vikings
WR: Lions
OL: Vikings
DL: Lions
LB: Lions
Secondary: Vikings
Special Teams: Vikings
But, head to head, I would say(as they showed this last weekend) the Vikings are a better team overall. _________________ @PJHotel_

Fairley did dominate, but against Charlie Johnson.
And Charlie Johnson is probably a bottom 5 starting G if not the worst.
That is no discredit to Fairley, because i like him. But i just think he didnt have much of a competition. _________________

The Vikings get the edge, just a much more complete team honestly. The Lions have become too one dimensional for my taste.
Matthew Stafford and Calvin Johnson are truly incredible and i can understand why some would choose Detroit over MN for that matter. However, even though the Lions have such an advantage at QB and WR, look where it got Detroit this year in head to head games against MN.
QB - Lions
RB - Vikings
WR - Lions
TE - Lions
OL - Vikings
DL - Vikings
LB - wash
DB - Vikings
ST - Vikings |
