When's the last time the Raiders had a mobile quarterback? Davis loved speed, but he wasn't big on mobile quarterbacks. |
Campbell was decently mobile. _________________

HA, you don't just get rid of QB of Rivers' caliber.
Considering Gates can't separate anymore, there is no really good offensive (skill) player on his team. And he's still statistically above league average in his "worst year ever".
I wouldn't consider getting rid of him "after ONE YEAR" even if that one year was a Sanchez level year.
Year and a half... same thing.

Not when he picked one of the most physically gifted QB's in the history of the league. _________________ First jersey purchased: Jamarcus Russell.
Second jersey purchased: Rolando McClain.
Next purchases: Every Chiefs, Chargers and Broncos player. |

No, Gates is fine. Beat Barron pretty easily yesterday on a deep pattern, but Rivers was backpedaling and couldn't hit him. If Rivers could have stepped up, long TD for Gates. _________________

Didn't know strong arm meant gifted. Because that's pretty much all Russell was. _________________

Even still, you're talking about the least important skill position. |

Barely. He's someone who can get some yards here and there, but even JaMarcus Russell could get some yards here and there doing back flips like a whale.
Who was mobile before that? Culpepper? Not at that point of his career.

He may be super immobile, but even with a terrible o line he is still one of the least sacked QB's in the league. _________________

I'm literally facepalming right now. I was pointing out the irony of Mr. HWS passing on one of the best HWS speed prospects ever and that guy turning out to be the best WR in the game by a big margin and you guys make it a serious conversation about JaMarcus Russell. Wow. _________________

NTM, Al had nothing to do with Palmer. _________________

His time should have been running out earlier.
No team with Phillip Rivers will ever win a SB. Actually, you can state now no team with him will even make the playoffs with how he's been playing the past years. |

If I were the Chargers, I would start looking for a future replacement, but it's not like they need to get rid of him immediately. He is still one of the better QB's in the league. Maybe they could find a talented project QB in the draft and start grooming him, kind of like how the Packers did it with Rodgers.
IMO, the one who definitely needs to go in San Diego is Norv. He has stayed far longer than he ever had a right to. He has proven that no matter how much talent the team puts on the field, he isn't capable of getting the job done. _________________
