Ray Edwards, the very same defensive end that we nearly signed prior to the 2011 season, has been cut by the Falcons according to reports and according to ProFootballTalk.com Nnamdi Asomugha is next on the chopping block in Philly. While these two guys have not performed well as of late, it doesn't hurt the browns at all to give them a shot. Coming off of bad play in their contracts, we can get them for significantly less than the last time they hit the open market. Best case scenario is we fill both needs and the perform to their previous contracts for less. Worst case? They underachieve and we cut them and move on. No harm done. SO PLEASE JOE BANNER, SIGN THESE GUYS!!!
BTW here are the links:

Signing washed up scrubs is not how you win championships. _________________

Edwards has been straight up garbage since signing with the Falcons. Sounds terrible.
I wouldn't mind Scrabble if we weren't going to resign Brown. He'd be a fine #2 place holder for a few seasons. _________________ Adopt-a-Brown: Jabaal Sheard - Stats:

Exactly why a championship team let go of Edwards. _________________

2 years ago Asomugha was regarded as one of the best CB's in the NFL. I wouldn't say he's washed up. _________________

IDEA!
You sign Asomugha, and Trade Haden to the Cowboys for Mike Jenkins. Everyone wins. _________________

You could set your watch to these threads.
I can't see anyone taking on Edwards' contract via waivers. Someone may sign him on their own terms, but nobody else is going to pay out what Atlanta signed him for earlier this year. |

apples to oranges. i think it was more the system in Philly that made Scrabble fall off the map more so than diminishing skills _________________

I agree "Scrabble" not fitting in Philly is the main issue but not sure it's worth the risk bringing him in here because he will want a lot money I believe _________________

I don't necessarily want him either, just stating he's not a scrub. I wouldn't be mad if we signed him though. _________________

We aren't playing for a championship next year. Let's build for the future with some young talent and not veterans who have underachieved elsewhere. That's not how football games are won. Nnamdi is still going to get paid good money somewhere if he leaves Philly. Most likely it will be with a team that anything less than a Super Bowl that season would be a dismal failure. That, or someone who just doesn't "get it" in the free agent market. I.E. the Washington Redskins. _________________
