Let's face it, we're probably stuck with Mark for another year, unless we cut him and take the cap hit. We need to fire Sparano ASAP and Cavanaugh goes faster than him. We pay for Norv Turner to come in and coach the offense. He's just like Wade Phillips to me, the dude knows offense like Wade does defense. We then get his QB coach, John Ramsdell to follow him and he coaches our new QBs. I'll assume that the projected cap has us 3.6 mil over. Also, there needs to be a new GM and DeCosta makes a lot of sense. We keep Holmes to see if he shapes up, and Stephen Hill can become the situational receiver that we send long every once in a while.
Cuts:
OLB Calvin Pace (8.6m saved) He can't do anything and is just completely ineffective
ILB Bart Scott (7.2 m saved) Would love to restructure his contract and bring him back as a situational guy, but he's not going to want to back up Davis
S Eric Smith (3m saved) He doesn't do anything for us anymore
RB Bilal Powell (600k saved) No need to have him on the roster anymore
OL Jason Smith (12m saved) Sign him back for a cheaper contract
OG Vladimir Ducasse (800k saved) Bust. Time to admit it.
QB Mark Sanchez (8.25m saved) It's been fun
Re signings:
RB Shonn Greene (4 years 12m) I love Greene and think he is a huge asset in short yardage and is a great feature back when paired with a speed burner.
OG Matt Slauson (3 years 550k) Bring him back as a backup
S LaRon Landry (4 years 15m) He's been very reliable this year
K Nick Folk (2 years 2.5m) I love him and he's gotten better every year.
DT Mike DeVito (1 year 1.3m) Can be a good situational run stuffer
OT Austin Howard (4 years 9m) Could be a huge player for us moving forward at RT
P Bob Malone (1 year 600k) He's been solid enough for a year 2
OT Jason Smith (2 years 2 mil)
OLB Ricky Sapp (1 year 550k)
S Yeremiah Bell (1 year 1.5mil)
That leaves us with 25.0m dollars left going into FA and the draft
Trades:
QB Tim Tebow to Jax for a 6th rounder.
Get the guy out and try to get some focus off of our team
Fifth rounder to the Pack for James Jones
Been saying it for three years now, he's a stud and we need a guy like him, plus you can't ever have enough receivers (see Brady, Tom)
Free Agents:
OLB Cliff Avril (5 years 40 mil)
I think he can be great off of the edge and a presence that Rex and Pettine need.
WR Ted Ginn Jr. (2 years 2mil)
As we have learned, you always need wideouts, plus he can return punts and has SPEED
TE Visanthe Shiancoe (1 year 600k)

I think he can be a great receiving option or blocking
Draft I have us picking about 8th right now:
1. OG Chance Warmack Alabama
We need a couple of guards and he is a very good one. He is there to protect our new QB.
2. QB E.J. Manuel Florida State
With the QBs in this draft, everybody has their own favorite, and he's mine. Big, strong, mobile, and a cannon for an arm. He's got everything to be our new QB. He and McElroy will battle in the preseason for the job, but I think the future is bright with him.
3. OLB Jelani Jenkins Florida
I think he could be a real steal this late, and could help Avril off the edge.
4. RB Kenjon Barner Oregon
Dude is fast and has proven this year that he can carry the ball often. He is our change of pace to Greene and could turn into CJ Spiller for us.
6. OG Travis Bond UNC
Big guy that can open holes for us in the run game.
6. NT Anthony McCloud Florida State
We need another guy to stuff the run because I think Sione is getting in trouble with his back.
7. QB Seth Deoge Texas Tech
Purely out of depth needs, maybe he can become something. Who knows?

I like the FA, although we should bring in a vet QB.
We have too many needs to take a guard in the first round.
Not a big E.J. Manuel fan. _________________

Theres so many this wrong with this mock its not even funny.
1) Sanchez being cut actually LOSES us money. Do your homework.
2) Four more years of Shonn Greene at 3 million? Hell no. Dude is slow an unathletic. He cant run, he cant catch, and he can't block. Hes a bad RB. Hed be worth 1 year at 1million.
3) If we picked a guard at 8 overall we'd be the biggest embarrassment in the nfl draft history.
4) Hate EJ Manuel. He doesn't profile as a good pro at all.
5) Stop assuming Packers will just GIVE us James JOnes. Hes a stud like you said. We'd have to give up a lot more and I dont understand why the Packers would trade a great receiver. This makes no sense.
Not a fan of this mock at all. _________________

I might cry if we draft an interior lineman in the top-10, and then draft EJ Manuel, and then go into the season with a QB competition between Manuel and McElroy.
Don't make me cry. |

Alright you are right on the Sanchez thing, but we haven't given Shonn Greene a chance to run behing a legit O-Line since 2009 and we saw what happened in the playoffs. He would never take 1 million because he knows he can get 3 million from another team. Warmack can fill a huge need and is probably the best player available at that spot. You hate EJ Manuel that's cool, I like him so I put him in here. I somewhat agree on the James Jones thing which is why I gave up a round earlier for him. Also, the Packers have 4 great wideouts right now so I could see them giving us James Jones. Lastly, I think McElroy could be a good pro QB. He knows how to win and is very accurate. Reminds me of Pennington with a stronger arm and Manuel reminds me of Cam Newton so I don't know what you could hate about that? |

Also, the guy that you all want, Dysert, is quarterbacking a 4-6 team in the MAC! He's not Tyler Wilson who has that record in the SEC! Drafting him would make me cry, too.
Don't make me cry either. |

I think this might be the worst mock ive seen... sorry but manuel is terrible.. Warmack in the top ten is a big no. If we have a top ten pick we draft an OLB.
James jones is now a huge asset to the packers hes not going no where especially not for a 5th round pick.
Avril does not suit this defense well and reminds me of a better maybin. What we need is a barwin or spencer. If we are going to break bank, i would do it on barwin.
Greene is gone guys terrible
Barner a 4th rounder.... not a chance |

I'm not a fan either.
The cutting of Sanchez ain't happening. I think it would be a 4.5 million cap hit.
I agree with the rest of the cuts and would probably add Maybin and Holmes. Holmes IMO is a detriment and Maybin is invisible.
Also I'm not that high on Landry. Unfortunately we're not going to bench him so we'll never find out if Bush or Allen can play the position.
If we draft 7th I would try to trade down and pick up an OLB in the first. Moore would be my pick but there are a number of others I would consider. I would look for an OG and/or a Rb in the second
I think Manuel would be a risk and probably wouldn't take him until the third. I do like Doege but I doubt he would last unti the seventh. I also like Barner but doubt he'll be there in the fourth |
