I know it is a little early to be looking towards the 2013 draft, but there has been an increased interest in the draft among this forums members recently and I thought it would help to have a thread about it. So, why don't we discuss who are our favorite draft prospects for this year and maybe a few sleepers?
I'll start it off with my favorite player for us, who happens to be Sam Montgomery DE/OLB, LSU. He has great size and is nearly as fast as Mingo. He never stops using his hands and will come at you with a different move nearly every play. He also reads plays well and keeps contain fairly well. He fits the wide-9, would be great DE in a 4-3 base set and could be a great 3-4 OLB. He looks like he could go top 5 but is still overshadowed by Mingo's insane hype. He could really go anywhere from 3-15 with current rankings.
A sleeper guy I like is Daniel McCullers NT, Tennessee. He is giant and is strictly a 3-4 NT or a goaline guy. I would target him of we plan to use any sort of 3-4 or 5-2 defense.

Barrett Jones, C. Alabama.
Watched him last year at LT where he was pretty dang good and this year at C he's playing like a standout. Likely will get drafted in the first round as a C. He's smart, physical, and filled with great character. I think his addition alone would boost the whole O-line, passing game, and run blocking. |

Its too early to say where exactly these guys will get drafted, but here are some of the players I'd like to see in Honolulu blue in the first 3 rounds:
Bjoern Werner, FSU - DE
Tank Carradine, FSU - DE
Dion Jordan, Oregon - DE
Alex Okafor, Texas - DE
Dee Milliner, Alabama - CB
Johnathon Banks, Miss. St. - CB
Xavier Rhodes, FSU - CB
Jordan Poyer, Oregon - CB
C.J. Mosley, Alabama - LB
Tony Jefferson, OK - S
Kenny Vaccarro, Texas - S
Matt Elam, Florida - S
Philip Thomas, Fresno St. - S
Baccari Rambo, UGA - S
Chance Warmack, Alabama - OG
Barrett Jones, Alabama - OC/OG
Larry Warford, Kentucky - OG
I've been watching a lot of Mosley lately, and I'm a big fan of his. Same with Dion Jordan, I think he and Werner would be perfect fits on this D-line. |

He can play anywhere on the line, he is great at calling out blitzes and making sure the whole OL is on the page and he is a great blocker coming from a lineman breeding school. There are a few things he could be slightly better at and he could be much stronger but he is still a top half pick. _________________ Kate Upton for sexy President!!!

I doubt our coaches would be creative enough to use Dion Jordan but I would love to have him. I have some catching up to do with Tony Jefferson and Philip Thomas, so I have no comment there. I do disagree with Kenny Vaccarro though. From all I've seen on him he isn't exactly a good tackler and doesn't stay tight in coverage, but I need to see more. _________________ Kate Upton for sexy President!!!

Round 7- Dustin Hopkins/K/Florida St | That could be a solid draft for us. Both Banks and Reid would be good for us. Carradine would fit our system. I don't know a whole lot about Gabe Jackson so no comment. I wouldn't want either of those RB's, Dyer for obvious reasons and I wouldn't want Barner because of the concussion history. The last 2 address big needs as well. I would really like a draft similar to this. _________________ Kate Upton for sexy President!!!

What do you all think of Cordarrelle Patterson out of Tennessee. Sort of gone under the radar outside of UT and the teams they played. Very raw, but has ridiculous speed and agility. Someone dubbed him etch a sketch due to the way he runs looks like it was drawn on an etch a sketch. Ran a 10.62 100m in JUCO

If your a team that needs a C, and he continues this type of play at C throughout with no major injury. It'll be REALLY hard for a team to pass on him in the 2nd half of that first round if you need a C. |

Tony Jefferson is my favorite S in this draft. I think he's the most complete player at the position, very good in coverage and vs. the run. |
